dir.xiph.org only listing Ogg streams
Everyone, I have modified the yp cgi script on dir.xiph.org to reject non-ogg streams. As the site has grown in popularity, it hasn't scaled well, and maintaining the database was eating most of the resources on the server. We did some minor tuning a few months ago which helped, but the load has continuted to grow and was affecting other more essential services. Given Xiph.org's

multiline string continuation
Dear R experts, I wonder how can one input a string variable in multiple lines in a R script. I've seen solution to the command line continuation in the non-string situation (just continute at the new line). However, that doesn't work for strings because the new line character, "\n", is included in the resultant string. For example, if I type the following in a script:

staying with R, jobs in R
Hi: I started using R and am an avid fan of the product and also the concept. I am considering switching jobs but do wish to continute with R while the industry standard seems to be SAS. Is there any web site which posts jobs at places which use R for their work. avneet -- An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. ~Mahatma Gandhi http://truthloveandcompassion.blogspot.com/

Delorme Street Atlas 8 and ISO images
...with SA. * SA does not know when its data CD is not present in the CD drive. I can have another CD or no CD in the drive, and SA simply presents a blank map. * On the few occasions when SA does figure out it does not have a CD, I give it the correct drive letter for the ISO image, and it continutes to present a blank map. Ideas? Thank you. -- Charles Curley /"\ ASCII Ribbon Campaign Looking for fine software \ / Respect for open standards and/or writing? dir.xiph.org only listing Ogg streams
Hi There, The nice thing of dir.xiph.org [http://dir.xiph.org/] was the fact that it supported more or less all formats, this way we were able to send out different formats, where the listener was able to choose his appriciated format from and listen to it, also the way it all got listed made it very easy for a listener to see all te streams from one station in the different formats.

dir.xiph.org only listing Ogg streams
I decided recently to change my stream from Ogg to AAC+ because I have a limited upload bandwidth and I wish to provide the best sound quality at low bitrates. If Ogg was as good ias AAC+ then I would definately use it. I'm apposed to this decision and I think it is a very bad idea. It is only the xiph directory where my potential listeners come from. I will have to switch to using

Samba problems ( still after using diagnose.txt )
Hi Andrew, I'm having problems with Samba, on FreeBSD 2.2.5. I have tried both Version 1.9.17p2 ( Which came with the release ), and the latest version 1.9.18p8 ( from samba web site, and recompiled for FreeBSD ). Both smbd, and nmbd are started from the command line as follows ( When compilying the code I changed the SBIN directory to sbin ( instead of bin ) /usr/local/sbin/smbd -D
