Renaming Journey and avoiding libraries with common noun names
Hi all,
I know this is a long shot, but could renaming the "Journey" module please
be considered by those in a position to support it?
I''ve written an issue on this in the journey repo also:
https://github.com/rails/journey/issues/49
Essentially our project has a model named Journey, the same as Rails 3.2''s
new routing driver. As a consequence we can no longer

Non-constancy of variances in mixed model.
Hi, I've been doing an experiment, measuring the dead-zone-diameters of
bacteria, when they've been grown with paper diffusion disks of
antimicrobial. There are two groups, or treatments - one is bacteria
that have been cultured in said antimicrobial for the past year, the
other group is of the same species, but lab stock and has not gone had
any prior contact with the antimicrobial.

Rose Diagrams
Hi,
Is it possible to create Rose Diagrams of wind data (speed & direction) with
R??
Best regards,

iterative proportional fitting
Dear all,
I wonder if there are some function or package in R which can do the
iterative proportional fitting.
In the exponential model
f(y1,...yn)=exp(a'yi+b'(yi*yj)+.....+c'(y1*...*yn)+constance),
instead of the canonical parameters, I use maginal probability instead of a
and log odds ratio instead of b. and for the order higher than 3, I use the
canonical way or even assume

how to extract test for collinearity and constantcy used in lda
...rigger a "variable appears to be constant within groups" error and fails
(i.e., ceases computation rather than skips bad slice).
There are cases where neither warning is literally true, so I expect the
warning and error must be triggered in a neighborhood of collinearity and
within-group-constancy, and I would like to be able to remove the offending
slice in advance. Does anyone know where I can find the explicit tests
that are used for these?
Thanks in advance for any light you can help shed on this question.
Best,
David

Estimate of variance and prediction for multiple linear regression
Hi, everyone,
Night. I have three questions about multiple linear regression in R.
Q1:
y=rnorm(10,mean=5)
x1=rnorm(10,mean=2)
x2=rnorm(10)
lin=lm(y~x1+x2)
summary(lin)
## In the summary, 'Residual standard error: 1.017 on 7 degrees of freedom',
1.017 is the estimate of the constance variance?
Q2:
beta0=lin$coefficients[1]
beta1=lin$coefficients[2]
beta2=lin$coefficients[3]

Don't Understand Error Entry
I am using dovecot-0.99.11-8.EL4 on my system and decided to check the logs
since I just took over as the administrator on this system and I noticed the
same error entry over and over in the logs. I went to /var/log/dovecot.err
and see:

How to change Graphics fonts
Dear All,
I have found the reply ot the question, just as I was giving up.
How to change graphics fonts: go to r\rw1021\etc\
and edit devga, replacing the first font found with that which you want to
use, ie. TT Courier New

Rest and Mime Types
...in your controllers
as they do now. In the end all that is really changing is that we are
changing a ";" to a ".". But conceptually we are transforming an request
with two actions into a request with one action but with different
formats requested. In my mind this provides a constancy since we are
already doing this when requesting XML, JS, mobile-content, etc.
I am curious what others think? Is this all crazy? Am I overloading
mime-types way to much? Traditionally we have considered the following:
GET /people/feed
as saying "Carry out the action ''feed'...

APC BACK UPS 2200 model BZ2200BI-BR (update)
Turns out another user reported the same issue with a slightly different model: https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/issues/231 <https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/issues/231>
The "stty -f /dev/cuaU0 raw" trick should help, but I am confused as to why FreeBSD has different "raw" settings than what is set up at the same time as the baud rate:

Setting up Samba on Solaris for Windows XP & MAC OSX access with a single point for authentication
I'm new to Samba and Unix in general. I've been given the task of setting
up Samba on a Solaris 7 server. I been told that both Windows XP and Mac
systems need to access several folders on this system. In addition, this
set up has to work with our NIS server (dns1) to authenticate the users for
security.
I was able to set up Samba with NIS support but only the Windows clients can

Installing Samba on Solaris
Hi,
Last time I wrote, I recieved a follow-up from someone who told me to "read
the manual". Since then I've discovered that we can't access the samba
system files from the MACs with samba on Solaris. I've explained this to
the supervisor and he feels nfs will be fine. (Although the file system is
mounted on to a Solaris system from an Xserver which means we'll have to
