R Consortium R Users Survey
...is attempting to survey R users worldwide. We would like to know some basic information: How people use R, What they think of the way R is developing, What other languages they use, etc. You can read more about its purpose in a recent post <https://www.r-consortium.org/blog/2017/06/29/take-the-r-consortiums-survey-on-r> by Hadley Wickham and myself on the R Consortium blog. When the analysis is complete we will share the results of the survey.
We would very much appreciate it if you could pass on the link to the survey <http://bit.ly/2tuO4NF> and encourage everyone to participate.

Evolution of the R native interface
Hi!
I hope you don?t mind me posting this call for participation - I do think the matter at hand is very important for the people on this list, and the people on this list are very important for the matter at hand.
For historical reasons, the native API provided by R for use by applications and packages is not as concise and consistent as is could be, and is tied into the internals of the

broken network-support for netBSD-domUs?
Hello.
I recently tried installing NetBSD-5 on xen-4.0.1-rc5, which resulted in no network (xennet0 can''t get IPs per dhclient and has no connectivity if set by hand).
Tried it with netBSD-5.1-RC3-1 i386 PAE & amd64, netBSD-5.0 and even 4, all with the same result.
On a older xen version (3.3.1) networking works fine, so I assume it''s a xen bug, and not a netBSD-kernel

Question about R developpment
I would describe MRO as a distribution of R, in the same way that Fedora, Debian, SUSE etc are distributions of Linux. It is not fundamentally different from the version of R that you can download from CRAN but the binary builds offer some specific features:
1) The binary build is linked to the Intel Math Kernel Library (MKL) which may increase the speed of some matrix operations
2) Packages are

VLANs are your friend, otherwise DHCPD is not going to understand how to properly answer your request for different networks on the same interface.

Language element manipulation
I am very confused about this. I want to convert a string to a name so I can
use it to extract an element of a data frame using `$'. Here is my
(non-working) code:
do.graph <- function (meas)
{
fn <- paste("a", meas, ".dat", sep='')
themeas <- read.table(fn, header=F)

Adding support for S7 to base R
Dear R-devel,
We are pleased to inform you that the R Consortium OOP Working Group
has been making progress on the S7 (formerly named R7) package and are
preparing to submit it to CRAN. The S7 package is a new OOP system
designed to be a successor to S3 and S4.
As part of that effort, the group has identified a minimal set of
narrow changes to base R that would allow S7 to exist as a CRAN

Serving MS Access Databases, with ACL
Hi All.
Greetings from South Africa.
I have a Samba LDAP server (v 3.022) running on Ubuntu 6.10
Its serving about 200 users, with profiles, and domain logons.
I want to start server MS Access Databases on it, with the best speed

init script question
Hi all, is there a function (or variable) I can use in a custom init
script that identifies the init script name? i.e. I'm porting some
init scripts from gentoo, where the $SVCNAME variable identifies the
init script name within the script itself...
