I guess I know what's happening here. In case we only have DMA memory when booting, we don't reserve swiotlb buffers. Once we hotplug memory and online ZONE_NORMAL, we don't have any swiotlb DMA bounce buffers to map such PFNs (to...

[PATCH RFC v4 00/13] virtio-mem: paravirtualized memory
...memory. There was a similar issue reported by Hui in [1], which boiled down to wrong usage of the swiotlb parameter. In such cases you should always try to reproduce with hotplug of a sam-sized DIMM. E.g., hotplugging a 1GB DIMM should result in the same issue. What does your .config specify for CONFIG_MEMORY_HOTPLUG_DEFAULT_ONLINE? I'll try to reproduce with v4 briefly. [PATCH 00/22] Some documentation fixes
Fix several warnings and broken links. This series was generated against linux-next, but was rebased to be applied at docs-next. It should apply cleanly on either tree. There's a git tree with all of them applied on the top of docs/docs-next at: https://git.linuxtv.org/mchehab/experimental.git/log/?h=fix_doc_links_v2 Mauro Carvalho Chehab (21): ABI: sysfs-devices-system-cpu: point to

This has to be done by user space, or configured into the kernel (CONFIG_MEMORY_HOTPLUG_DEFAULT_ONLINE). virtio-mem will only unplug memory that was online to the ZONE_NORMAL. [PATCH] x86/paravirt: Avoid setting IF flag, if not necessary
Setting the IF flag can cause an VM exit. So we should avoid touching the IF flag until absolutely necessary. This patch change the way the paravirt arch_local_irq_restore() works by checking the previous flags value and call arch_local_irq_enable() only if the IF flag was set previously. On a 32 vCPUs KVM guest running the AIM7 five-sec workload, the performance increased slightly from 302136.32
