Minimal hardware requirements
Hi, all

At the moment I am planning to use an old PII-350 with 128M of RAM I have lying around. I can not test anything yet, as I am waiting for phones to arrive, so question is will that be

Hello list,
i have updated the fedora core 5 samba package yesterday. since then the
existing users can not access the shares anymore, but new created users
can. the log says "User <olduser> not in 'valid users'", but the old
users are of course still there side by side with the new user. the
update was from 3.0.14a to 3.0.23. i am using the 64bit package and

Re: Looking for answers....
[Redirected to the general samba list]
One of the things which Samba provides is a facility
to run a "preexec" script before allowing a user to connect
to a directory, and refuse to make the conenction if
the script returns a non-zero result.
This can prevent someone from logging on twice,
limit them to specific hours, from conencting to
the wrong directory and so on.

FXO ATA?
Is the Sipura 3000 the only way to interface a remote pstn line and connect
incoming calls to Asterisk? I have a location connected by network that has
a phone line, when the room is occupied I want the line ti ring there as
normal, but when the employee is travelling I want the line to be conencted
to a ATA that then feeds it as an incoming pstn line to the pbx located at
my office so it can follow her.
It sounds like the Sipura 3000 would be perfect, what else would do it?

Prob with Ringing multiple Channels
hi,
The prob is when we ring 2 channels simultaneously, only 1 channel is actually ringing.
In our configuration, the Asterisk box is connected to an E1 channel bank,
where 15 analog extensions are conencted to channelbank inturn.
We tried following,
Dial,Zap/g4/444&Zap/g4/448|20|t
Heres the output,

Rails, multiple connections and threads
Hi,
I have a rails app which currently does the following
"After the launch of the page, there is a button click which starts
another ruby script on server using system(ruby <file-name>)" This
execution may take a while around 5-10 mins.
I have following questions
1. While the script is being executed are other connection requests to
server waiting or are there services?
2. Is

IAX Trunking Weirdness
I am having trouble getting trunking to work between a couple of my servers.
All servers are running 1.0.9 stable version, and are working perfectly. All
have a Zaptel card of some description, so timing is not a problem. Each server
has a definition for each other server, using RSA auth, and qualify=yes (just so
I can see ping times). trunk=yes is on globally, AND in each peer/friend

Foxpro with MYSQL
G'day
If I have VFP9 working, a Mysql DSN which I can contact via isql and
using unixODBC for this. Do I need to do anything else to wine ie;
install MySQL drivers (Windows version) to get connectivity? I just
finished checking out Paul McNett's pages, however the MYSQL drivers he
used for VFP8 are "no longer supported" when I do "wine setup.exe". I

load balancing over 4 lines to one provider
yes, this is a crazy subject. I have 4 ADSL lines to the same provider, which
even have the same gateway. Those lines are connected to the same machine (more
crazyness: even connected to the same nic. it works fine, I swear). this machine
will serve this conenction to a local net.
so, I setup the ifaces correctly, everything works. I add balancing using this
command:
# ip route replace default

year for everone! well my problem is; i already installed asterisk on

Dovecot vs.Clients - strange behaviour, diagnostics sought
I've been experimenting with dovecot-1.0-stable on Solaris. Storage format
is mbox. Dovecot, in test, runs in parallel with an UW IMAP, with dovecot
running SSL-only on port 994.
It seems to work to some extent:
* dovecot runs
* authentication works
* SSL works
* all manual IMAP functionality checks seem to work fine
However, I'm running into issues with IMAP clients.
* Null

T1 - A little guidance needed to get started, What order to do zaptel, zapata...
I have about a dozen SIP phones up and working, now I want to connect the
asterisk box to our Fujitsu 9600 PBX. I currently have two dial-up servers
conencted to the Fujitsu PBX that I built with mgetty/pppd and have the
lines provisioned the same way as those dial-up server, ESF, B8ZS, and E&M
wink start, so I have confidence in the guys who set up the PBX.
I've built a loop back plug for T1 and looped it both directions, I can
get the Digum T1...

Unable to start Xorg in dom0 (Linux kernel 6.1.18)
Hi, everyone,
I installed the Xen3.1.0 based on Fedora8 and enter the Dom0 successfully.
The kernel of dom0 is linux-2.6.18-xen0. But the Xorg could not start in
the Dom0. When I use the "startx" command to start the X server, the error

ODBC MySql DB: sqlQuery empty
Dear R Beginners, Experts and Users,
I already asked this question on the R-sig-DB mailing list, but sadly
didn't got a reply :-( .
Keeping fingers crossed that I have more luck on the main R mailinglist :) .
I'm trying to connect to a MySQl database via Gnu R using the RODBC
interface. The conenction workes but I get an empty result string.
Gnu R and the MySql DB are running on a 64 bit

Re: Problems with Excel & MS Word files (EVEN - still ANY ideas?)
...process hangs, it appears as though the process
itself is tied up in some sort of loop or something and becomes
un-responsive; the client tries to auto-reconnect and does so spawning a new
'duplicate' session to the first. Problem herein is two fold; first, the
smbd process they origionally conencted with is still running, and still
maintains the file locks for the file they are accessing, secondly, the smbd
process maintains 100% cpu time (as the O/S allows anyhow, not lagging the
servers thankfully).
So, we keep running into an issue (usually with Microsoft Excel or Word
documents), wherein...

sftp
Yo All!
I understand why we do not have sftp in openssh, but it would be nice
if we could make it so that when an SSH.COM scp2 client makes a connection
to an OpenSSH V2 daemon that it does not hang....
Any ideas or do I need to dig a bit on this?
Here is what the sshd says when I conenct to it from scp2:

debug: confirm session
