problem with rdocdir option when installing R2.3.1
Hi, In the "R documentation and Administration" manual it is said that "The configure or make variables |rdocdir| and |rsharedir| can be used to install the system-independent doc and share directories to somewhere other than |libdir|". Then I've installed R v2.3.1 on a solaris platform (SunOS 5.9) with the following commands : > ./configure

...ted, including SP2, taking several trips through windows updates, before gplpv was installed. The network is DHCP and stateless IPv6 autoconfigured, and 2008 gets both addresses just fine. Typically, I haven''t seen anyone else seeing this problem. Am I the only one? I have no particular compulsion to running xen-tip/master if that''s the reason for the crash. The kernel just has to have support for the Intel 82576 NIC :) Being compilable by GCC 3.4.6 would be a bonus too (pv_ops 2.6.30+ aren''t). Single crontab entry for every 15 minutes beginning & ending on the hour
We have a cron job that needs to run every 15 minutes throughout business hours. The first run is at 8:00, the last run is at 17:00. Is it possible to specify this time range in a single line? */15 8-17 * * 1-5 will run 8:00 - 17:45. That's not what I want. Likewise */15 8-16 * * 1-5 will have the last run at 16:45, not 17:00 This is more of a brainteaser than a real problem. I can

[LLVMdev] Tiki Wiki For LLVM ?
As I've been reviewing the LLVM documentation, I noticed several typos or things that could be explained in more detail. My compulsion was to just go and fix it, but I can't do that because I have no access to the sources. Has there been any thought of putting up a Tiki Wiki for LLVM? If you're not familiar with Tiki Wiki, its a PHP/MySQL based content management system. It's pretty powerful and has a huge number...

Hi, I am running Nagios on CentOS release 5.5 (Final). Any clue about the below warning? Please let me know if any one needs any additional information. /usr/sbin/nagios -v /etc/nagios/nagios.cfg Nagios 2.12 Copyright (c) 1999-2007 Ethan Galstad (http://www.nagios.org) Last Modified: 05-19-2008 License: GPL Reading configuration data... Stepwise model selection question
...multiple-regression model selection (occasionally, I'm able to exhaustively compare all possible models, but usually it is done by forward-backward algorithm). I'm OK with this so far. The use of step() seems fairly standard. But now here's where I think it gets weird: There is a compulsion among geneticists to then treat the results of the stepwise model selection as yet a fourth analytical tool by which to rank all the mapping markers, i.e., as further evidence that a marker must be near a genetic element affecting the trait. "If it's included in the model, it must be clos...

irrelevant warning message
...iables into factors by default. I can get into a long arguement as to why later, and will give one example of why below. The default behavior of S, Splus and R has been to create dummy variables for factor, character, and logical variables. This is good. Why has R suddenly gotton a compulsion to put out a warning message for any model where we do this? I contend that it is - confusing - unnecessary - and wrong. It is certainly confusing, as it implies a behavior change when there has been no change. The fact that the "factor" command was used behind the scene...

If I were to ask for more, it would be a Language Reference, and a comprehensive index, because I find search tools generally lacking. how long until 1.1?
On Thursday 25 September 2003 18:15, Tyler Knott wrote: > BTW, while we're on 1.1, how long until we can see that release? Well, 1.0.1 is due "soon". It's mostly waiting on an updated Win32 SDK, if I understand things correctly. 1.1 is not anytime soon, and is the "AAC-killer" version, I think. -- Graham Mitchell - computer science teacher, Leander High School

Re: compiz Digest, Vol 7, Issue 20
...cause of Compiz. I credit this to Dave's work, and I respect Compiz very much. I am like him in that I always want the best, most efficient code to be written (I do web coding) for version 1. Obviously there are always bugs, but in terms of organization, structure, method, etc. It's almost a compulsion, and it doesn't serve me too well because everyone (myself included when I am the user, not the programmer) wants the quick fix, the temporary solution, the instant gratification. So I think the fork is a good thing, because so far, what I understand is that Beryl is a tad bit more radical (not...

iXsystems is looking for a full-time system administrator
Hi! Does the sight of a poorly formatted, though syntactically valid, configuration file make at least one of your eyelids twitch? Have you ever disowned a family member after failing to convince them to back up their systems properly? Have you ever spent an evening compulsively labeling cables in an operational rack? If you answered ?Yes, oh God, yes!!? to at least 2 of the 3 questions above,

Nagios installation problem
Hello, Has anyone managed a successful installation of Nagios using the RPMForge packages on CentOS 5.5? It looks like it should have worked, I followed the guides for Fedora and CentOS here (with appropriate path adjustments): http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/quickstart-fedora.html http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Nagios The SELinux policies look fine (I tend to ignore instructions to

who needs documentation?
Okay, my responsibilities at school have recently eased up a bit, and I might have some actual free time over the coming months. So I'd like to volunteer my services to write some needed documentation, tutorials, FAQs, etc. I am "fluent" in C and C++ and am not bad at Perl. I have been told I'm good at explaining things. I am anal-retentive about grammar, syntax, and
