iXsystems is looking for a full-time system administrator
Hi!
Does the sight of a poorly formatted, though syntactically valid, configuration
file make at least one of your eyelids twitch?
Have you ever disowned a family member after failing to convince them to back up
their systems properly?
Have you ever spent an evening compulsively labeling cables in an operational
rack?
If you answered ?Yes, oh God, yes!!? to at least 2 of the 3 questions above, AND
you have a sound operational knowledge of Enterprise SAN, NAS and general
networking products as well as the ability to actually make a VMWare host boot
over iSCSI after creating both sides of the necessary configuration from
scratch, then you probably have what it takes to be iXsystems? new system
administrator!
You?re also probably a busy person, and you?re fully capable of using a web
browser, so I won?t bore you with details about the company you can already find
here:
http://www.ixsystems.com/resources/ix/our-company/
I will say that we?re long-time supporters of the FreeBSD community, sponsoring
events and conferences, and we use FreeBSD extensively in-house for pretty much
well, everything! We also build our own FreeBSD-based NAS appliances, an area
you?ll have ample opportunity to get your hands into if you?re even remotely
inclined towards software development, assuming you?re able to even find the
time to do so after dealing with all of the constant infrastructural challenges
you?ll face here! We?re busy folks. There?s a lot going on.
This is a full-time position with all work to be done primarily on-site at
iXsystem?s International World Headquarters in beautiful San Jose, CA.
OK, OK, so it?s a warehouse, and if you think San Jose is beautiful then we
don?t even want to know where you live now, but both get the job done here in
the heart of California?s Silicon Valley. Anything we lack in ambiance we more
than make up for by being? quirky and different! In any case, hours are
flexible, but we definitely need you on-site. There?s equipment to lift!
Wires to connect! CPU fans to lick!
This job offers a competitive salary, full heath benefits, a weight room, a band
practice area, and all the bad snack food you can eat as only some of the
benefits. We also employ more than a few FreeBSD folks, both locally and
remotely, so you?ll be rubbing shoulders with some of the best (or if not the
best, at least the loudest).
Interested? If so, please reply with a current resume or some reasonable
facsimile thereof and we?ll take things from there!
Thanks,
- Jordan
