window 2000 policy changes with a samba pdc
...the new features
and decided to experiment with it.
I set my server up as a pdc which I am still working out some of the
bugs but all and all I have it going and have a windows 2000 pro client
join the domain and login and out very easy.
The one problem is that before I roll this out to my other comptuers I
need to change the policy on changing of passwords so that they will
never expire. I read the how-to's and then once I had found the Active
Users and Computers on windows 2000 pro I triied to follow the FAQ and
connect to the Domain Server and it keeps coming up Cannot connect to
pre-2000 Do...

That doesn't work. I look in Active Directory Users & Comptuers and
there is a new computer account in the correct location however.
Looking at that output, it seems to be trying to create a client named
TTLNX01$@CORP.TCC.INET@CORP.TCC.INET. That doesn't seem right, it
should be just TTLNX01$@CORP.TCC.INET right? What would be causing
that extra @CORP.TCC...

Samba 2.2.0 PDC Problem
I've poured through the FAQ and HowTo for setting up my Linux 7.0 system to act as a PDC for my Windows 2000 SP1 clients; however, I continue to get the "Cannot join domain, the credentials supplied conflict with an existing set.." error. Yep, I followed the FAQ for this error, followed it and I still get this error.
I'm logging onto the Win2K system as administrator and when I

Change of server
Hello friends, I have a question for you, my server is in 4.4 (centos) and
it is a Pentium III of 500 MHZ, it's a compaq proliant, now I want to
change the dark disc of it to other, which is HP Pentium IV, is it possible
that the change of server can be recognized by the Linux or I would have
problems at the moment of it is started in the new server?
Thanks and regards,

INFO Request: Samba PDC, Windows NT4 Style, Failure to Add Trusted Machine
Here's my document reference point:
http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/domain-member.html#machine-trust-accounts
I've had some moderate success setting up this Samba network. But, it's
failing at adding a Windows XP Pro machine to the trusted machine list,
or it's disallowing it to log in. This explanation is as complete as I
can make it, so it will be

How do I create a globally accessible directory [partly solved] (XP works/98 doesn't)
I just want a simple, globally accessible directory for anyone on my
LAN. I don't care who they are, who they're logged in as on their
windows machine, I don't care about security (it's my own private
LAN!!!). Why is this so difficult to do? I've looked through the
archives (which by the way, could someone spend a few minutes and put a
SEARCH feature there. Following threads

Need Help Getting Windows XP To Use Samba Properly
Hi everyone, new to the list.
My apologies if this issue has already been covered, but I am having the
following problem with Samba:
Using Windows XP as a client, I am trying to see a Solaris system as a
server. Solaris is running Samba 2.4.2, and Windows 2000 sees it as a
server without any problems.
Windows XP, however, generates the error "The network name is no longer

DsReplicaSync failed - WERR_LOGON_FAILURE // Failed to bind to uuid for ncacn_ip_tcp - NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
...ake care of not
using the same uid-/gidNumber as of the user created/set within
samba-tool/ldbedit?
6. Assuimg 2 is correct that means I have to take care about setting the
uid- & gidNumbers (and no overlappings) by myself if not using ADUC (even
with ADUC I have to take care about uidNumber of comptuers by myself - but
thats only secondary).
Never the less I know that on my domain controller I can receive a uid-
& gidNumber of the user/group independently of this being set in AD by
using "wbinfo --name-to-sid <myuser>" and using the resolved SID further in
"wbinfo --si...
