Re Off topic - Compendium of distributions
Hi, I am going to sound mean here, however I don't feel the document is "very comprehensive". Maybe concise is a better word. I quickly looked through the document. The biggest problem is that there is very little discussion on multivariate distributions. Noting that multivariate distributions play a critical role in statistical theory, plus are gaining an increasing number of

...of HOWTOs on its forums. This is the place for services like Tomcat which have non-redistributable components. It's perfectly legal to provide concise, up-to-date HOWTOs for software that cannot be redistributed. Perhaps someone (or a group of someones) would like to take on organizing such a compendium of instructions on the CentOS Forum and keeping the compendium up to date? Think how many hours of googling and searching mail archives and copious RTFM could be saved! Instead of firing off a mail to this list, you could first look in a well known place on the Forum and avoid recasting a round obj...

R Documentation(s)
Dear all, I am interested by the various messages sent to the r-help mailing list these last few days about documentation on R. Yet, there are a lot of issues actually open on this topic, and it is not clear to me what is the "urgent need for documentation" on R. R comes with the 'Introduction to R' by Venables et al. I recommend the colleagues and students in my lab who are

cumsum in 3d arrays
Hello! Is it posible to apply /cumsum()/ along the 3rd dimension of 3D array? Something like matrlab function - /cumsum (*A*,dim)/ which returns the cumulative sum of the elements along the dimension of *A* specified by scalar dim. Thanks in advance ?eljka -- View this message in context: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/cumsum-in-3d-arrays-tp4110470p4110470.html Sent from the R help mailing

The wiki also needs to collect and organize example code, especially for data manipulation. I think that new users would profit immensely from a compendium of examples. Rails theory question, where to put a join query
The is something I wrestle with a bit when I construct joined queries.. Perhaps some experienced insight will straighten this out for me. Say you have two tables with two models, ''authors'' and ''posts''. an author has_many posts, a post has_one author. You need methods to do the following queries: find_author(postid) find_posts(authorid) And you are doing a

...the statistical procedure and a commented example with code in R. The goal would be for these to read like Baron & Li's "Notes on the use of R for psychology experiments and questionnaires." Originally I was going to post these as PDFs on my own web-page and let them grow into a compendium of how-to manuals as I teach this course over the years. However, perhaps a better idea, and one that probably benefits more people, is to have my students post their short manuals (not as PDFs but rather typed in) on the R-wiki page. Does this seem like a good idea to folks? Another question has...

Rails on Linux with a MS SQL Database
So, does anyone know much about getting rails (on Linux) to talk to mssql? There is a mssql driver, but it only works in Windows. A site said that using ODBC might be an option, but I didn''t see a specific ODBC driver for rails mentioned. The nix machine runs php and it can connect to the mssql db just fine, I don''t recall if it was using ODBC or free TDS though. I hoped

Foreign key - relations
Hello, I''ve got DB like this: (roughly) create table projects ( id int auto blabla, name varchar(200), user_id int, sales_id int); create table users ( id int auto.., name varchar(50)); So project.user_id has a foreign key to user.id - all is good. Everything works fine. Now my question.. How can set a relationship from two different fields to the users table ?? Fx.

hierarchical partitioning in generalized linear mixed models
dear colleagues, I want to use hierarchical partitioning methods to evaluate variance contributions of differente predictors within a generalized linear mixed model framework. I don't know if this is possible, because I can not found anything about this issue. My error is poisson and I, at least, a random factor in the designed analysis. I acknowledge any idea about how deal with
