Urgent information (legal stuff) about the future of SAMBA
...atens the very existance of Samba. Earlier today, the bnetd project was shut down to the DMCA. Since bnetd is alot like Samba, I figured you would be interested. Bnetd is a server that pretends to be a battle.net server (starcraft multiplayer). This server was created by reverse engineering the communcations protocol, just like Samba was. However, blizzard is now going after this project using the DMCA. Since Samba, like bnetd, is a reimplementation of a propriatery protocol and server, I believe Samba could be in danger. If Blizzard succeeds in shutting down the bnetd project, Microsoft could use t...

dtmf tone clamping in calls to external ivr
Hello, I'm having trouble working out how to send DTMF tones to an external IVR. My system has an analog phone connected to a TDM400P card, a SIP software phone (Zultys LIPZ4) and is connected to a BRI in Australia with a NETjet-S card. I'm using ISDN4Linux and a 2.4.25 kernel patched with the ISDN audio patch from Traverse (which allows the card to do voice). DTMF works fine between

ssh-agent protocol
Hi, I don't know if this is the right place for this question, but here goes: I'm building an application for Mac OS X to manage the ssh keychain. I'm planning on building a seperate socket where ssh can connect to, read data from it, and forward it to the wrapped ssh-agent if neccesary. I want to notify the user when ssh is trying to request keys when there aren't any keys

File Corruption in NT workstation but not Win95
Hi again folks... Just when I thought I had everything working great with samba mounts on an AIX 4.3 machine (after a lot of testing with a Win95 box), I went to do something quickly on a NT 4.0 workstation. I had some intallation programs in the shared directory that I had used to install programs on the Win95. No problem. I ran over to my boss' NT 4.0 workstation, opened the shared

Bug or Incompatibility?
Hallo, I seem to have a problem in the co-existence of OS/2 Warp Server for e-business and Samba on my Linux box (RedHat 6.2). Since I have a dedicated the linux box for fileserving (because of reiserfs), the OS/2 Server only serves as PDC and communcations handler. Now to the problem: When an application tries to copy or move a file from one Shared Drive to another (under OS/2 Warp 4.5) it doesn't work. Once I tried it in the command line, I got the following error message: "SYS0066: The network resource type is incorrect" If you wan...

Seattle IAX Termination
Does anybody know of any commercial providers of IAX termination with DIDs in the Seattle, WA area? I believe the area codes are: 425, 206, 253 Failing any commercial providers, is there anybody in the seattle area running Asterisk with a PRI coming in who might be willing to sell me an IAX trunk with a DID in Seattle? -- ____________________________________________________________ Muiz

*** Asterisk Sunday News: The SIP NAT Special
This week, I've been really busy with the launch of a new Swedish Voip provider, www.bbtele.se, so I haven't been able to follow the Asterisk community and haven't been very responsive either. My apologies if you've tried to contact me and I did not reply quickly or at all. So to cover up (can't report on what is happening :-) I dedicate this issue of Asterisk Sunday News to

Question on application/database design for a application port to rails
Hi all I am hoping that the experience and knowledge of this ''list'' will be able to help me out with some design decisions I have to make while porting a desktop app to rails. Here is the scoop: I am in the design process of porting a fairly large client/server app to rails. Average data set is about 200 MB per database/server. Altogether there are about 100 tables and about

I forgot. Why do we hate* Java?
Hi, I''ve started reading some Java books. Gasp! What makes website development with Java so bad? I haven''t looked at Struts but I''m reading about Hibernate. Compared to ActiveRecord, Hibernate seems like some extra typing to explicitly define the model fields, getters and setters. I know that these are things that you can do in ActiveRecord when things get complicated
