chain updates for 4, 5 and 6 (pulls)
Hi, For 6.xx: git://hasevolq.net/syslinux.git sys6 Michal Soltys (3): chain/partiter: call notsane_gpt_hdr() per header chain/partiter: add options to ignore GPT crc checks chain: year update in commments (trivial) Main addition here are separate options from 'strict' to ignore crc checks against gpt header and/or gpt partition list, so the user can force booting in some cases (instead of being forced to correct crc checksums by external means while being left with unbootable system)....

correlation
...he other is ordinal (M2 takes Low, Medium, high and very high). Do you think is ok to use cor() function to test whether the two agree, i.e correlate? I am afraid that if I set M2 to 1,2,3 and 4, the function cor() will take them as continuous and therefore lose intrepretation. Thanks for your commments David

Opinions on renice or turning off swap or ramdis k as swap?
I have 4 gig in my * box. I'm tuning for performance and I'd like to ask opinions: 1. asterisk -p == renice -20 ?? 2. I've turned off swap with no apparent ill effects. Can anyone commment on long term effects with moderate load (say, 30 SIP phones / 2-3K calls /day) 3. Can anyone comment on using ramdisk as swap and whether this is a good idea or bad idea? I'm using 2.6 kernel. I've modified the PCI latency in rc.local: setpci -v -s <my T100P address> latency_timer=...

Prosodic/phonetic analysis with R
...at': http://www.praat.org which seems to offer a spohisticated range of analyses, though it's not too clear from the above URL what can be saved and in what format. I'd be grateful for any comments on using 'praat' with R, and/or for any suggestions for other software with commments. I only want to hear about software which (like 'praat') is GPL or similar. It's never been used in the Syslinux tree as far as I can tell. In my mind, this would imply that you'll be renewing every year in perpetuum which seems to be a scientific impossibility. I'll gladly...

Unknown commments in shorewall status.
I wonder if someone can tell me what these ''unknown'' remarks mean in my status file. They are only in the last portion of the file and are listed below. If they mean nothing, I will rest easy. But if not it means I need to fix something. Your thoughts would be appreciated. ---------------- udp 17 92 src=24.224.173.220 dst=24.222.0.75 sport=1027 dport=53 src=24.222.0.75

Hello, i updated my samba to version 3.0.20 on a suse 9.2 system. I thought, some new net rpc commands need samba 3.0.13. Yahoo bug in tseries::get.hist.quote and its::priceIts
...com uncompressed Sat Apr 24 15:27:40 PDT 2004 --> Is there an _elegant and portable_ way of reading this with the last line? I needed this, and used the somewhat clunky data <- read.csv(destfile) unlink(destfile) data <- data[-(nlines-1),] # skip very last line with commment which uses nlines, which had already been computed (as has a offset of one because of the header line). I'd be happy to send this as a patch to tseries and its, but I have the feeling we could do better. How? Thanks, Dirk -- The relationship between the computed price and reality is as y...

[OT] "plot y against x"
...Compute the corresponding y = f(x) values 3. Plot x against y 4. Add a (more or less) smooth line connecting the (x; y)points ... plot(x, y) # plots x against y (However, in R itself, "?plot" is discretely silent about what is "against" what!) I'd value commments on whether the above "transposed" usage is in fact sufficiently common (perhaps mainly in certain subject areas) as to constitute a "linguistic enclave" with a valid dialectal usage which is the opposite of the standard. Or maybe there isn't really a standard. This would h...

(2.2.5) Does AUTO PRINTER DRIVERS work - definitive statement please
...Not sure if this is an unnusual number of people with problems, but it seems like it ( I could be too close to the problem to see clearly). Strange thing is, I'm sure I had this working in 2.2.2, but now can't get it working using the same conf and setup with 2.2.5. I've also seen this commment made a few times by other people. Any comments welcome, set me straight - is it just me or is there a problem. Just need to know whether to keep looking for solutions, or hang fire and wait for someone to do the hard work for me. I'm using Solaris 8 and mostly HP drivers. Really appreciate a...

Add a preamble to documentation

The account naming norm is what I am currently implementing and could be avoided in the howto, but it really shows what are the differences between the tasks, and also allows a technician to have administration rights on workstations, and not on the domain. Testing for S4 objects
Dear r-help list members, Is there a way to test whether an object is an S4 object? The best that I've been able to come up with is isS4object <- function(object) !(is.null(slotNames(object))) which assumes that an S4 object has at least one slot. I think this is safe, but perhaps I'm missing something. Thanks, John -------------------------------- John Fox Department of

[LLVMdev] MC-JIT Patches 2/3
Hi Jan, I would rather not work with a patch this large. Can you pull out the addition of the MCJITStreamer into its own patch, and we can iterate on getting that in as a single commit? I realize it won't work or do anything useful, but I can't deal with reviewing patches this large. The main thing I am concerned about is getting the basic design of how the streamer and the assembler and
