Alsa audio -- FYI update
Alsa audio started working a couple of days ago with wine and then stopped working yesterday. Here is my experience. Pulseaudio cannot be removed any more. So I reinstalled the system and left it there. I compiled wine git and installed, and then installed DNS 10. Then I re-booted, ran killall pulseaudio in terminal, and started the program with winecfg's sound set to alsa. Everything

Minimum RAM requirement for CentOS 6.x graphic installer?
...ll install in accordance with what you told it, but that does mean you have to spend some time figuring out what to put in your kickstart first. This would also give you some consistency between systems. Or you could let the 6.x "text installer" install it's minimal system, and then comeback and yum install everything else afterwards. fewer choices to make, but you get to live with RH's ideas of sane partition sizes. Another option for installing on smaller machines is to use the live disk[1] and a few tweaks[2] to do the install. However it will mean some hand holding on each m...

Maildir messages
Hi all, Hopefully, I'm sending this to the right place... Can someone guide me on changing the Maildir messages files back to the single file format I used to have instead of the dovecot.index /cur /tmp /new format my newer server currently has. I'm running dovecot v1.2.9 postfix v2.7 on Ubuntu v10.4

PermitRootLogin proplem
Hi all, I think that there is a security problem with the PermitRootLogin option. I asked an root ssh connection: $ ssh root at machine root at machine's password: I typed no password, this prompt stayed in place. In a second time, I changed the PermitRootLogin to no, and then restart ssh server. Third, I typed the password on the previous prompt, and the access was allowed. I then

(See the man page for full details.) - Fixed a glitch in the --progress output when transferring zero- length files. - Fixed the over-reporting of changes to a write-protected directory. - The --copy-dest option has made a comeback into CVS now that its algorithm has been improved to work just like a --link-dest with copies instead of hard links (an earlier version of the code did a less efficient transfer of unchanged files from the --copy-dest hierarchy). Authdb NSS module
I use LDAP right now, but local cached sssd queries are much faster and reliable. OpenChrome video driver for Centos
I can find xorg-x11-drv-openchrome-0.2.901-1 for EL5, but not the current xorg-x11-drv-openchrome-0.2.903-1 (which only goes from FC8 on). Since my OQOs have the CX700M2 chip and there are listed enhancements for this chip in the 903 version, I would really like to get it...

Frustrated with RoR environment splintering
Why isnt the RoR community focusing on robust and scalable mod_perl style of Apache environment, rather then splintering all over the place with lighthttp, mongrel, WEBrick, SCGI, fcgi, etc??? Its frustrating as someone who is trying to migrate to RoR. Its very unlikely I would ever get a contract to work on any webserver except Apache, so it would seem logicaly to focus all our efforts to

Session cookies not passed on first redirect
Hello Campers! Is it just me or does Camping init the session twice on a redirect? If I have an app and when the user visits it for the first time, a session is generated. Afterwards I redirect the user in a service (that basically does auth) and he gets bounced to the login page - but when I arrive at the login page my SID somehow has changed :-( so there is a stale session dangling

When someone helps you, at least let them know if the problem is resolved or not
I'll keep this brief because I don't want to come across like any more of an a$$ than I absolutely have to, especially since I know I've blown my stack before..... Gentlemen (and Ladies, if you're out there), If someone gives you advice on this list, and ESPECIALLY if they give you advice offlist, have the courtesy to (AT THE LEAST) to let them know when/if you get your question

RFC: Second draft of an LLVM Community Code of Conduct
Greetings all, First off, thanks to everyone who contributed to the initial discussion thread. Judging by the responses from that thread, there seems to pretty broad interest in pursuing this. There also seem to be a few concerns. =] I'm including an updated draft based on the feedback, and I'll also try to break down the major points I've seen of discussion. Sorry for the long email,
