store_class_name for Comatose:Page model
Hi, I have three models: Comatose::Page, Article and Product. In all of them, store_class_name is set to true. Now, when i do: results = Comatose::Page.multi_search("*", [Article,Product], options) I get: wrong constant name Comatose::Page #{RAILS_ROOT}/vendor/plugins/acts_as_ferret/lib/class_methods.rb:438:in `const_g...

routeset mapper problem
hello, I installed a rails app on dreamhost, which I''m building based on the Comatose plugin, and it went smoothly for the first version. Now I uploaded a second version where I broke down the Comatose code into a regular rails app, which works alright locally, but can''t get routing to work the same as before on the server. I believe I double-checked all gotchas mention...

iptables update hoses shorewall
Just upgraded iptables on two of my gentoo boxes (no help there, so I''m trying here ). The upgrade is just to a newer gentoo release of iptables 1.2.9. After the package built, I issued a "shorewall stop", and got: shorewall stop Loading /usr/share/shorewall/functions... Processing /etc/shorewall/params ... Processing /etc/shorewall/shorewall.conf... Stopping

Mongrels 1.0.1 falling asleep w/ Rails 1.2
...grels fall asleep without any real cause. A deep sleep, actually more like a coma. The mongrel in question (I''m using a cluster of three) can not be revived. A cluster::stop, then cluster::start is nessesary. A ::restart would not help, but no ruby processes were left running. The comatose Mongrel''s pidfile would still be there though. I can find no apparent reason in the logs, but this situation did occur VERY frequently, most often overnight. I run a very agile site with lots of restarts, so maybe it has to do with that (no restarts during the night, a memory leak s...

PulseAudio is streaming with an excessive latency.
I'm running centos 6, just did a yum update, and still cannot get sound from vlc. The entire message (reformatted): Potential PulseAudio version problem: PulseAudio is streaming with an excessive latency. Sound may be lost or quality degraded. To address that issue, upgrade the PulseAudio daemon to version 3.0, or disable the alternate sampling rate in its configuration I can find

Does that imply that I should abandon VLC or just rpmfusion? This site: http://www.tecmint.com/install-vlc-media-player-in-rhel-centos-fedora/ suggests I use epel and nux. I already have epel enabled. Should I use its suggestion to install t...

Dom0 crashing on x86_64
I am seeing a problem with Dom0 crashing on x86_64 whenever I create a DomU. I''ve done some more testing, and it appears that this problem is somehow related to networking. Dom0 crashes as soon as the networking services are started when DomU is coming up. As an experiment, I brought up DomU without networking, and it stayed up. As soon as I started DomU with networking enabled, however,

can someone tell me what this means
I have a bunch of servers and workstations, all with the Shorewall one-interface setup. DAHDI: TCM PCI Master abort
...Trpms). I have a "Wildcard TDM400P REV I (4 modules)" with one POTS line and three local extensions (never can remember which is FXS and which is FXO )-: and a couple of SIP phones; small home system. About once or twice a month this happens. What I observe is that the system is comatose. I can switch via CTRL-ALT-F2 to a console window and I can see the "TCM PCI Master abort" messages whizzing past. They are also written to the syslog over and over and over and over and... until the file system fills up and Bad Things (tm) happen. The only way to get the system back at...

...here was no realistic expectations of solving additional bugs in some "soonish" period of time. There was no ETA (of any kind, time-based or otherwise), and that's still the situation today. The "stable" release (v.6.03) came with even slower development than before it, comatose in fact. The same already happened before, and I don't like the idea of slower development (yet again). In theory, a release should not affect the development pace; in practice, it does, negatively. After 8 months, we finally have public access to official development code / repository agai...

rsync patch
...atomic force at work that causes two atomically flat surfaces to stick together, but all of my physics education is hazy and from long ago. Under Linux, there are sysfs options which can improve recovery time. By default there is a 30-second command timeout for the SCSI emulation. Some drives go comatose in some error conditions and only come back with a bus reset and an aborted command. Command timeouts are retried by the kernel six times, so without adjusting the SCSI command timeout rsync (or anything in userspace) will be waiting three minutes after each error. Five seconds is long enough to...

vorbis tag for general music type?
Hi, I am wondering if vorbis has a standard tag for general music type. I don't mean pop, jazz, etc., but something more in line with describing the mood of the mucic. I am thinking of games which have a soundtrack in vorbis format which could use the user's own repository of .ogg files during gameplay, and use the tag to choose appropriate music for that part of the game. ZFS works in waves
A little back story: I have a Norco DS-1220, a 12 bay SATA box, it is connected to eSATA (SiI3124) via PCI-X two drives are straight connections, then the other two ports go to 5x multipliers within the box. My needs/hopes for this was using 12 500GB drives and ZFS make a very large & simple data dump spot on my network for other servers to rsync to daily & use zfs snapshots for
