Cannot Start CLVMD on second node of cluster
Hi,
I'm trying to configure Red Hat GFS but have problems starting CLVMD on
the second node of a 3-nodes cluster. I can start ccsd, cman, and fenced
successfully, and clvmd on any other nodes first time.

Alternatives to cman+clvmd ?
...few CentOS 5.2 based Xen clusters at different sites.
These are built around a group of 3 or more Xen nodes (blades) and
some sort of shared storage (FC or iSCSI) carved up by LVM and allocated
to the domUs.
I am "managing" the shared storage (from the dom0 perspective) using
cman+clvmd, so that changes to the LVs (rename/resize/create/delete/etc)
are automatically and immediately visible to all the Xen hosts.
However, this combination seems to be horribly unreliable. Any network
hiccup more than a lost ping or two results in cman losing contact with
the rest of the machines,...

DRBD+GFS - Logical Volume problem
Hi list.
I am dealing with DRBD (+GFS as its DLM). GFS configuration needs a
CLVMD configuration. So, after syncronized my (two) /dev/drbd0 block
devices, I start the clvmd service and try to create a clustered
logical volume. I get this:
On "alice":
[root at alice ~]# pvcreate /dev/drbd0

xen-testing and redhat-cluster devel
Hi,
I''m using xen on two-node redhat cluster (CVS devel version), using lvm
as storage backend.
redhat cluster is used to synchronize LVM metadata (using clvmd) and as
storage
for domain configs and dom-U kernels (with gfs).
Latest version of redhat cluster works with xen-2.0.4, but not with
xen-2.0-testing.
ccsd failed to start on 2.0-testing. Anyone knows what the problem is?
I assume most feature on 2.0-testing will eventually moved to 2.0-stable?...

Right way to do SAN-based shared storage?
I'm trying to set up SAN-based shared storage in KVM, key word being
"shared" across multiple KVM servers for a) live migration and b)
clustering purposes. But it's surprisingly sparsely documented. For
starters, what type of pool should I be using?

When I watch the bootup on the console, I see an error:
lvm.static: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/liblvm2clusterlock.so:
undefined symbol: lvm_snprintf
This error comes immediately after the "Activating VGs" line, so it
appears to be triggered by the vgchange command in the clvmd startup
file. I have another, identically configured, server which I have not
updated yet. This server does not give this error.
Everything seems to be working fine, so is this something I need to
worry about?

...ng redhat or
centos). If unsure about the multicast performance of your switches,
use unicast (I needed this in some cases).
- don't use a shared FS for your virtual machines. GFS2 works ok, but
the IO performance of your virtual machines drops a lot.
- because of the cluster, you can use clvmd. Even if not using
clustered logical volumes, you can still decide to stop the volume on
one server and start it on another via the pacemaker/heartbeat agents.
- use pacemaker to manage virtual machines (and, if not using clvmd, to
stop/start your lvm's using tags). For the xml files desc...

How to implement HA and Live Migration with a SAN?
Hello,
I''ve configured two xen hosts (dom0) sharing a LUN on a SAN.
My firs obiective is to run different domU on the two hosts, and
implement live migration between them.
Subsequently, I''d like to implement HA, so if a xen host goes down,
domUs will be restarted on the other one.
What''s the better way to obtain this? I think I need a cluster file

CentOS 7 as a Fibre Channel SAN Target

Does anyone know of any really good current articles that explain how to set up CentOS 7 as the target in such a configuration and also setting up CLVMd so they can all share an export over Fibre Channel from CentOS 7?

OCFS and LVM2
Hi Everyboy !
I read that LVM2 is not cluster aware (specially with OCFS2) from different
post on internet forum... If it's true, could someone could confirm this
information and point me where i can find this affirmation in documentation
?
I do some test with OCFS2 on LVM2 and it's seems to run correctly , so i
have some interrogation about this fact !
If it's true that LVM2 are

SAN Block Device locking
Hi,
when i start a Domain and the local block device is mounted i got an error
message from xm, as expected.
When i run a DomU from a SAN (FC Storrage) xm lets me happyly start the same
DomU wiht the same filesystem on another Dom0. I have 2 Dom0 Server
connected to the same FC Disks, managed by clvmd. Is there any way to
prevent this scenario from happening because after booting the 2nd DomU with
the same filesystem it is doomed.....
regards Martin
