rsync with -ls option
Howdy,
I'm trying to get a report from rsync using the -n option which will
produce a report of files that are different in a ls -al kind of style so
one could analyze what's different before possibly clobering a good file.
Is this possibly in the works or does anyone have any ideas on how this
might be done. It seems like a useful option to rsync to have.

IAX voicemail notification
...her Firefly supports it) in the sip.conf file, but
there's no mention of anything voicemail-related in the IAX.conf file.
I'm using IAX with Firefly, so that might just be the problem... tried
configuring another network in the options, but the SIP option is now
gone. Guess I'll have to clober config files and reinstall (I recall the
software asking me at first start).
Anyone can comment on this?

Request for advice on character set conversions (those damn Excel files, again ...)
...is that 1) I need to read strings, and 2) those
strings may have various encodings. In the same sheet of the same file,
some cells may be latin1, some UTF-8 and some CP437 (!).
read.xls() alows me to read those things in sets of dataframes. my
problem is to convert the encodings to UTF8 without cloberring those who
are already (looking like) UTF8.
I came to the following solution :

[PATCH v2] drm/nouveau: don't detect DSM for non-NVIDIA device
The call site of nouveau_dsm_pci_probe() uses single set of output
variables for all invocations. So, we must not write anything to them
unless it's an NVIDIA device. Otherwise, if we are called with another
device after the NVIDIA device, we'll clober the result of the NVIDIA
device.
For example, if the other device doesn't have _PR3 resources, the
detection later would miss the presence of power resource support, and
the rest of the code will keep using Optimus DSM, breaking power
management for that machine.

What guarantees, if any, does the scheduler make when two selection
nodes are linked by a Flag type? Can I expect the machine instructions
that are selected from the two nodes to be scheduled consecutively?
I'm trying to implement code generation for SELECT_CC nodes in a back
