Book on Postfix/Dovecot or Postfix/Dovecot/Clam/Spam Assassin?
I'm looking for a book on Postfix/Dovecot or Postfix/Dovecot/Clam/Spam Assassin
The blog posts and the mini-HowTo's I am reading lack the detail to be
useful to me (due to my own ignorance).
Amazon does not list any books for sale. There are some hits when
searching for Dovecot, but I expect them to be one section with the
quality of a blog post or mini-HowTo. (I have two books on Red

You can pass all the filenames from the inputs/ directory directly on the command-line, instead of specifying -r inputs/.
That way the order of scanning will be exactly the one specified on the command-line.
Otherwise clamscan just does a readdir, so the order is entirely FS-dependent, similarly with clamd which does a sort by inode.

Thats an overstatement, although I wrote a fair amount of libclamav :)

RPM help
Hello,
My installation of clamav is hosed up. It won't start due to a malformed
database.
I ran freshclam and updated the database but still have the problem.
I was going to uninstall clamav but there are other app dependencies.
Virtualmin is one.
How can I do an uninstall/re-install without hosing more stuff up?
I have found some examples, --nodeps, --replacepkgs and

Rsync Re: Trailing /
What should be the official behaviour here?
I must admit some of my scripts probably have both
trailing and non-trailing "/". But just played around
until it was mirroring into the correct directory.

Hi All,
I installed clam on CentOS 5 as below.

I got them form Dag.
below are the RPMS I installed.

clamav-db-0.90.2-1.el4.rf
clamd-0.90.2-1.el4.rf

But, when I restart clam it gives following error.

More on amavis/clam permission errors on Centos 6.3
I should probably find either the amavis or clam list(s) and take this
there?
Anyway, I have totally rebuilt my machine with clean installs. I have
spent time carefully (I hope!) studying the amavis and clamav conf files
before starting them and running the tests. Here is what I am getting:

clamav
Hi all,
I tried:
/usr/bin/freshclam -l /var/log/clamav/clam-update.log
and I got some warnings telling me that my ClamAV installation is OUTDATED
- please update immediately!...
then I tried:
yum update clamav, but no clamav package was found.
Does anybody know how to update clamav using yum or any other updater???
Thanks,
JC

CentOS 6, Postfix Dovecot
I only have one Postfix server running at the moment and have some
questions. On that install, I did Amavisd-new with ClamAV, SpamAssassin,
Postfix and Dovecot.
I know this is a bit off topic, but I'm really hoping for performance
guidance.
Is the added layer of complexity running Amavis worth the effort on a
system with moderate mail flow? Or should I just go down the path of

yum update (first in a long time) has broken clamd.exim
I have just run a 'yum update' on a Centos 7.2 server which updated several
hundred RPMs.
The update worked fine with no errors or warnings
I then rebooted the server and now my EXIM is rejecting emails because the
clamd service isn't running.
So I tried:
[root at ollie2 ~]# systemctl restart clamd.exim

Question about /etc/clamd.d/amavisd.conf
I don't know if this file comes from clam or amavis-new, but....
It contains the comment and command:
# Run as a selected user (clamd must be started by root)
User amavis
Is this conf file for clam or amavis?
As in /etc/clamd.conf we have:
# Run as another user (clamd must be started by root for this option to
work)
# Default: don't drop privileges
User clam

Optimization
Dear R-list,
I'm trying to estimate the relative importance of 6 environmental variables
in determining clam yield. To estimate clam yield a previous work used the
function Yield = (A^a*B^b*C^c...)^1/(a+b+c+...) where A,B,C... are the
values of the environmental variables and the weights a,b,c... have not been
calibrated on data but taken from literature. Now I'd like to estimate the

[stuart.leask@nottingham.ac.uk: R in your pocket on a Sharp Zaurus]
Ah, but the interesting thing is that they are coming out with a 'clam'
version like the 5MX. Details are limited at the moment, but that could
mean the combination of 5MX usability with a supported linux distro. I
am drooling in anticipation. Sounds like a "I've finally finished my
PhD and deserve a treat" situation to me :)

RAID on Email Server
I have an email server running Exim, Dovecot, Spamassassin, Clam, etc.
on Centos 4.x 32bit. On occasion I have disk I/O problems. Its
handling several domains and alot of email. Its currently on a single
SATA drive. I am thinking of moving too 3 drives with RAID 1 for
redundancy. RAID 1 will help me on reads but do nothing on writes as
I understand. I am thinking the majority of my I/O is

Hi Mariusz,
I found this thread at SAMBA.ORG:

I tried relative and non-relative path, with this same effect
but you've right because in manual for samba-vscan we can read
that in samba 3.0 we should use relative path.
I had increase debug level of samba daemon and in my log I
