Cingular/ATT killing my IMAP/POP connections with bad TCP FIN packets?
...d
off-topic or this issue is actually just a symptom of my own ignorance.
Also, sorry for how long this email got, I knew I wouldn't be able to
explain my issue in a paragraph.
I'm having issues connecting to my dovecot mail server, running with SSL
under Solaris while connected via Cingular/ATT wireless, specifically
via the wap.cingular access point. This server is not firewall, either
via software or hardware and sits on a fully routable internet IP
address. A few days after we made the transition from UW-IMAP to
Dovecot, I could no longer connect from my Nokia E61i to our ser...

OT - Originating Network identity
I am not sure if it is the right list for the post.
Please excuse my lack of expertise, if it is a bad
post.
Is there anyway to detect the originating network
identity of the call in Asterisk? For example, if the
Asterisk gets a call from Cingular Network, is there
anyway to find out that the call came from a Cingular
subscriber.
Thanks

Resco Radio and Icecast
Has anybody tested Resco Radio with Icecast 2.3.1? We have a listener
who can connect to other stations without a problem, but his connections
to Icecast buffer and drop. He's connecting via Cingular wireless, but
as I said, other connections seem to work without a problem.
Any insight would be appreciated.

Practical limit on dial prefixes for a route
Colleagues,
We're in the process of standardizing on Sprint PCS and Cingular phones on a
national basis (~ 50 properties, 1000's of lines). I manage an Asterisk
install at one location.
I've been looking at the Multitech CellFinder CDMA for Sprint as a dial
backup solution. Basically, it's a CDMA to POTS gateway, tied to a PCS
account. We would see it as a tr...

Text Messaging or AIM
Does anyone know of a program/extention to asterisk that would allow
me to either text message my asterisk box or IM it from AIM on my cell
phone to allow it to call me? I've been looking with google yet can't
find anything. I don't code, so I'm SOL there, so I'm looking for
something premade. I plan on taking a class on perl during the fall
semester at my local community

OT: Recommendation for EDGE/3GPP SIP phone?
I'm looking to ditch my GSM phone with Cingular and provide my own
calling services with Asterisk hanging my phone off the Edge or 3GPP
network... Luckily, I have the option (through my employer) of getting
a data-only plan.
My question is, other than the Nokia E61i or E70, what phones will do
SIP-over-EDGE or SIP-over-3GPP? The iPhone do...

Word 2000 on Wine
I keep hearing that Ian Schmidt figured out how to get Word 2000 to work
under Wine. Well, his domain comes up unknown and all references I have
seen on this subject hyperlink to his defunct URL.
Has anyone out there got Word 2000 installed on W2K to work under wine?
I'm using FreeBSD Codeweaver port but any success from anyone be it Red
Hat, Mandrake, etc would be appreciated.

Jumping on the asterisk bandwagon
...ading about asterisk and joining this mailing
list, I finally decided jumping on the asterisk bandwagon... Asterisk
rocks!!!
I have a www.Stanaphone.com SIP (free) for incoming line and a
www.VOIPJET.com IAX line for outbound. I also have a www.Vonage.com
line (gives me 500 outbound minutes) and a Cingular cell phone (gives
me 800 minutes) and I also use Skype fairly regularly. Not sure if
there is a skype to asterisk gateway in software (probably won't
happen because of intellectual property reasons) so I needed three FXO
ports and one FXS port. Below is how I plan to connect all these.
FXO #1...

Problem with busydetect and cell phones
I have a very strange problem I'm hoping someone has encountered already.
I've scoured the internet for an answer to this one. My phone company
provides no disconnect supervision. Hence I'm forced to use the busydetect
feature. I have a TDM400 with two FXO ports. If I call from an internal
extension to a landline and then hangup the landline Asterisk detects the
busy signal

How are you using Asterisk at Home ?
...ife, kid and I) don't even have a home phone
anymore.
After playing with this though, shesh I could have fun with it at
home. :-) Thinking about getting a SIP line or trunk or something to
tie into this for home usage.
One of the next projects for me personally is to get a SIP client for
my Cingular/AT&T 8525, it has wifi and hsdpa running Windows Mobile 6
and I am certain I have run across SIP clients before for these
things. Be fun to play with and get working.
So yes I am asking because I am unimaginative and need ideas on
selling this to the wife. :-) That and I am just curious abo...

SV: callback script?
Thanks.
I'm able to getting the asterisk calling back to my cellphone. But when I get to the authentication I get this message when I start to dial in my password:
NOTICE[5178]: rtp.c:509 ast_rtp_read: Unknown RTP codec 96 received
Is this a DTMF failure of some sort?
Thanks again.

case, it probably would have taken me days to sort it all out without
Johnny's guide. Thanks!
I'm hoping to get things to the point that I'm comfortable downloading

thing without worrying too much about catching a social disease. :)

Is there a command in CentOS4 or some small program to display a short
message everywhere possible on a box much like # shutdown -k now
"Display me where I'll be seen", but without the added (normal) stuff?
xmessage would probably be usable if it had an -onalldesktops option.
BTW, the purpose is to add a visual to the scripts I have in place to
