asterisk setup for church / conference call / speaker system integration
We have several people in our church that recently became disabled. I am
thinking of setting up an asterisk server and several phone lined so
that they can call in to church during services to listen to the service.
The phone lines at church are also used by our private school during the
week. So I am thinking that I need to setu...

Backup of large filesystems >500GB
I've a small system that I use to support a number of churches. I
provide web and email for them. My current server is running CentOS 6.3
with paired 1TB drives in a RAID1 configuration. It works well. One
filesystem is very large, >500GB, and contains numerous large files:
SQL, docs, church libraries in ebook and digital form, plus stored

Asterisk system for church call center
I have been asked by my church to recommend a VoIP system which can do
the following.
They do internet radio shows which are sometimes broadcast on radio.
They are looking for a system which does the following for about 5
agents, exactly as they have described it.
1. Take incoming calls
2. Put them on hold if there is no one...

Re: asterisk setup for church / conference call
...inless, just use mix monitor appl as part of the
dial plan for the secret extension that launches the conference from
the PC.
This is assuming you have a manned sound reinforcement system. If your
services are more low-key then the pastor will have to do it himself
before the service starts.
FYI: Churches are the _perfect_ example of a distributed business
environment where Asterisk shines. What other company do you know of
that has such a number of workers who don't have an office in the
building?
Our church is currently moving - possession June 30 - and we will have
deskphones for offices,...

Here is one of the sets of number of "successes"; the denominator is

What Windows apps stand in the way of switching to Linux at your shop?
http://kegel.com/wine/qa/#app is a list of "must-have"
Windows applications for various vertical markets
(at the moment, just k12 schools and churches).
These are the Windows apps that really keep a school,
church, or other organization from switching to Linux.
I'm hoping that this list will help focus Wine QA on
those key Windows apps, and thereby increase the
number of groups who can make the jump to Linux.
If you have any suggestions f...

MAC Address prefixes of Voip equipment
Is there a database of MAC address prefixes used the common VoIP
devices. I see the Linksys Sipura devices state with 00:0E.
Does the same apply to other Linksys VoIP equipment?
Is there some way VoIP equipment allow themselves to be identified by
requesting data from some ports?

Conference with MOH or input from computer Mic.
...d anyone have an idea on how I would be able to take the mic in on
the computer and put it as the "talking party" for a conference room.
I would then be able to set up a "listen only" profile for others to get
in on.
Reason for doing this is for 'shut-in's' for my Church. People call in
and push 3 to listen to church service.....get put into conference room
and PA system is piped into * box via Mic on soundcard.
TIA.

Problems with the rsync command line syntax for multiple files
...roblem of getting the syntax right for synchronizing
multiple files. I am trying to use rsync to synchronize files
generated in one directory with our public directory our web server.
We have a number of files with the extension html so I have tried the
following command line:
rsync *.html /cs/church-data/www/root/reports
I would expected it to match the third line from the usage:
Usage: rsync [OPTION]... SRC [SRC]... [USER@]HOST:DEST
or rsync [OPTION]... [USER@]HOST:SRC DEST
or rsync [OPTION]... SRC [SRC]... DEST
but it results in rsync printing the usage information. I also...

Smallest possible Asterisk VM
How small can an Asterisk system be, in terms of disk space utilized?
I am looking for just asterisk, with mysql, postgresql, or sqlite,
with PHP and Python.
After finishing the build and removing the tools, how small can the
whole system be?
100Mb, 200Mb?
Can packages be used to build the whole system, like using debs and rpms alone?

Formal definitions of R-language.
Hello!
Some CS-guys (the type who knows what Church formalism is) keep asking
me questions about formal definitions of R-language that I can not
answer (or even understand). Is there some freely available papers which
I can throw at them where it would be explained is R
functional/OOP/procedural language, does it use weak/strong,

PHP implementation of dovecotpw passwords
I am looking for PHP functions that implement passwords that much the
dovecotpw implementation.
I downloaded one from PEAR, Crypt_HMAC, but the passwords it
generates look nothing like the dovecotpw passwords, which could be my
fault because I know nothing about the field.
Is there a guide or some library that implements them to match dovecotpw?
