ncRNAs and chromatin
Jenner lab, University College London Our laboratory uses genomics and biochemical techniques to identify how transcription factors, chromatin modifiers and non-coding RNAs act to regulate cell differentiation. Our research has led to the characterisation of a class of short RNAs transcribed from polycomb target genes that interact with polycomb repressive complex-2 (Kanhere et al., Mol Cell 2010) and the identification of transcripti...

analysis and figure for sign test in setting of high inter-experiment variance
...analysis and generate an appropriate figure. To be specific, we have a virus and a mutant derivative, and the hypothesis is that the wild type virus is specifically suppressing transcription activity in a manner that is abrogated in the mutant. The experiment is to measure the amount of viral chromatin associated with overall histone (should be the same between wild type and mutant), vs. transcriptionally active chromatin (mutant should be greater than wild type) vs. inactive chromatin (wild type should be greater than mutant). For each datapoint there four variables: a histone type (genera...

qplot: plotting precipitation data
Dear list, I wish to plot chromatin precipitation data: I would like to have a rectangles (x:end-start, y:peak) but I do not have an idea how to define x (in terms of qplot syntax) and to choose the correct geom. mydata is a subset of a larger file. > mydata chrom start end peak 1 chr11 5291000 5291926 8 2 c...

File and console output does not work in C code
...to execution into R without errors, no file is created. I have also tried to do some simple printf(), Rprintf() and REprintf() but even that didn't gave me any visible output. Am I missing something trivial? Could anyone give me a hint on why it does not work? Best regards, Benjamin -- Chromatin and Cell Biology Lab.
