SOME Suggestions on Can't the very basic stuff to work
...ribution. So on your Linux system the paths may be different.
you may determine the path to those files by
find / -name smbpasswd
and
find / -name passwd
Now make sure that you have on your Linux system the users
who shall have access to teh SAMBA Shares.
I think in your case they are:
tim AND chrissy
Now, since you are using security=share, so no LDAP server,
you need to add these users to your smbpasswd, due it is used
for authentification.
This shall be done by calling
smbpasswd -a user_name
so
smbpasswd -a tim
and
smbpasswd -a chrissy
you will be promted for a password when adding t...

Windows XP client - intermittent 'network name cannot befound' loading profile

displayed where you can enter a user name and password.
Mapping network drive via Windows Explorer also works w/o
any problem.
BTW: I think that in your smb.conf there might by a error:
from your posting of smb.conf you have
valid users = tim chrissy
however, according to the on-line documentation, names in the
valid user parameter have to be separated by comma (,)
So it should be
valid users = tim, chrissy
I hope this helps!

Vlad!
P.S. Perhaps a developer should take a look on this!!

Loading Data to R
This is the most basic question ever...I haven't used R in a couple years
since college so I forget and haven't been able to find what I'm looking for
in any of the manuals.
I just need to figure out how to load a dataset into the program from excel!
Thanks!

Video codec
Hi,
I guess this is a good time to start putting together a wish list for a
video codec.
I see that for audio the compression is around 10X for reasonable quality.
I am sure this will start its own thread of conversation.
For video you can do 40X fairly easily and the big task is to go to 80X or
100X with reasonable picture quality, say, a peak luma SNR of more than 30
dB. Uncompressed

hardware ogg vorbis decoder
As it seems that the vorbis decoder is now stable with respect to
format/features, would it be time to start thinking about a hardware
implementation?
I would be interested in pursuing this if some there is consensus on
requirements.
If there is some enthusiasm for it then a module could be set up on the
opencores site for a gate-array decoder.

A new era in Radio! Don't miss The Experimental Beat! (fwd)
Hello,
Excuse the blatent self-promotion and certain degree of off-topicness, but
I thought people here might find this of interest.
We just recorded a radio show using Fideliphone (www.fideliphone.com)
which uses CELT. Not sure exactly which version but the most recent
release of Fideliphone was in May so it's probably not the most recent
version. Anyway it performed beautifully!

W7 and Roaming Profiles on two different PDC
Hello,
I use a Samba 3.6.12-59.23.1-3256-SUSE-SL12.3-x86_64 coming with
openSUSE 12.3 as a PDC. I also use roaming profiles with Windows 7 Pro
clients. This works perfect.
Now I need to _move some clients_ / profiles to another server with
Samba 4.1.9-3.22.1-3256-SUSE-oS13.1-i386 (openSUSE 13.1). This one works
already fine, but with different users. So I can exlude mistakes in my

Still trying to get past authorization problems
Got all the Postfix errors fixed but maybe one, so I don't think that's
involved in this mix any more.
I had a domain definition problem, got that sorted.
The accounts' logins are correct. I tried several from the shell, and
they let me in.
Here's the minus-n output, not very different from the first time I
posted it:

[RFC] Splitting cluster.git into separate projects/trees
Hi everybody,
as discussed and agreed at the Cluster Summit we need to split our tree
to make life easier in the long run (etc. etc.).
We need to decide how we want to do it and there are different
approaches to that. I was able to think of 3. There might be more and I
might not have taken everything into consideration so comments and ideas
are welcome.
At this point we haven't really

Samba4 AD delegation to read userPassword attribute
Hello Samba group,
I ran into a problem concerning Dovecot LDAP authentication to the Samba4 Active Directory.
Background: I want to install a Openchange+Samba4 environment using Sogo, Dovecot and Postfix. I didn't want to use openldap as described in the Openchange documentation, why should I use 2 LDAP databases?
