SAMBA PDC User Permissions, Admin Settings, and Logon?
...lable error. Issue 2: If I don't set up each user account (w/ domain) on the WinXP machine I want to logon to, I get some kind of very, very limited logon. It almost seems to be corrupted. Issue 3: This is my main frustration - I cannot seem to block access to other peoples shares! EG user chrisg can access the nolan share, etc. Final Issue: Not a big problem, but I can't figure out how to set up the CUPS drivers for the pdf-generator. Is it a winbind problem, bad config, or am I just a moron? Attached is my smb.conf # Samba config file created using SWAT # from gridlock.workgroup....

Dtracing scsi
A small script to see what SCSI commands are being issued by a system: http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/chrisg?entry=scsi_d_script Still work in progress as I needs to handle larger CDBs but it is a start, since I don''t have a disk that big it is not a problem for me yet. Also getting the return scsi packet is a hack but so far I can see no alternative short of knowing about all the possible comp...

Automate Destroying Snapshot''s

I would like to keep the snapshot around for one week, than destroy it using the following command: "zfs destroy snapshotlvolume." dtracing a forked process OR dynamic library
Hi, I am tracking down a problem and would like to know how I can follow a forked process with my dtrace script, or how I can trace a dynamic library. Here is the problem. I am tracing dtlogin, and specifically I am trying to determine what error libpkcs11`<routine> is returning. It turns out dtlogin forks a lot of processes, and I believe the second forked process is the one that winds

External eSata ZFS raid possible?
Is this possible? I want an external case with 4 HD in, each having an individual eSata cable. I plug in this case only when needed (each HD plugs into my PC separately), and do something like ">import ZFS pool" and use my ZFS raid. When done, I unplug it with ">export ZFS pool" or something similar command. This way I save energy, less noise, etc. I want it only as a

Can't add new users
Hi all, I tried to add a new user to a Samba share, I did all the usual: made a Unix account on the Unix server for the user which was the same as the user's window's UID. Put her name as a valid user for that directory in server:/etc/opt/samba/smb.conf, and stopped and started server:/sbin/init.d/samba server; nothing worked. Interesting observations: 1- After performing the steps

ZFS hang and boot hang when iSCSI device removed
...cting to an iSCSI target, and then changing the IP address of the target. Basically we have two test Solaris servers running, and I followed the instructions on the post below to share a zpool on Server1 using the iSCSI Target, and then import that into a new zpool on Server2. http://blogs.sun.com/chrisg/date/20070418. Everything appeared to work fine until I moved the servers to a new network (while powered on), which changed their IP addresses. The server running the iSCSI Target is still fine, it has it''s IP address and from another machine I can see that the iSCSI target is still vis...

Linuxtag 2009
Cheers. It is this time of year again: CentOS is going to Linuxtag 2009 (well, at least we will try to get a booth there). If you want to be part of the team there, stay tuned for news here in centos-promo at centos.org. Deadline for the projects is 24th of march (short call!), I will try to apply sooner than that >:) Cheers and thanks, Ralph -------------- next part -------------- A

ZFS Filesystem Quota under Solaris 10 and Sparc
Hallo. Filesystem quotas used to work well under Solaris 9 and ufs filesystems on the Sparc platform even with two rules for the folders in the users home directories /home/group/user and the separate filesystem /var/mail holding the inboxes: plugin { quota = fs:Home-Verzeichnis:noenforcing quota2 = fs:INBOX:noenforcing:mount=/var/mail } Since we upgraded last year to Solaris 10

Python version fights.
Greets; This centos6.2 system seems to have python-2.6.6, but that is turning into a huge problem because I now have a backlog of about 40 packages that will not upgrade because they all need python 2.4. That, and importing gpg keys doesn't seem to be helping in that regard. But first, how to go about down grading python to 2.4? Thanks. Cheers, Gene -- "There are four boxes to be
