Migrating to mdbox
...for a minute whenever they request a CHECK, or Dovecot feels the need to run one itself. Looking at past threads: http://www.mail-archive.com/dovecot at dovecot.org/msg35212.html http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.mail.imap.dovecot/53936 it seems that the safest way is to run: sudo dsync -v -u chris backup mdbox:/home/chris/mdbox eliminate any errors that it reports, test the new mdbox access temporarily, and then switch my config in Dovecot. Ideally I'd like to do that just for me, without disrupting other users of this server (that I help to admin). This error occurs every time I ru...

Usernames with dots
Now that I have winbind working, life is good. However, I've hit upon a real kick in the pants. As you can see from my email address, we have a convention here of usernames being firstname.lastname. So, when I go to change the owner ship of a file: $ chown chris.palmer myfile Linux thinks I mean user chris, group palmer, and says "invalid group" (there is no palmer group, obviously). Now, I could just use the numeric UID in place of the textual username, but using wbinfo I can't find out what winbind has set my UID to: # wbinfo -r chri...

Shared behavior and_raise problem, and site aestetics
...d: foo.should_receive(:bar).and_return { raise } everything seems to work. I have been supplying no arguments to and_raise, by the way. Also, you may want to make the background in the code examples on the home page a little lighter. I am hardly able to read the darker-colored bits. Thanks. -Chris

Primary Group SID incorrect - ahhhh
Hi, I'm running 3.0.33-3.29.el5_5.1 .. migrating from 3.0.21a with an LDAP back-end. I've use slapadd to import the LDIF file I've exported from my original samba server, but it seems like samba isn't grabbing the Primary Group SID from the ldif file. For Example: dn: uid=chris,ou=Users,dc=orgon,dc=com sambaSID: S-1-5-21-3318375643-2463009161-752822123-3028 sambaPrimaryGroupSID: *S-1-5-21-3318375643-2463009161-752822123-513* displayName: Chris creatorsName: cn=Manager,dc=orgon,dc=com I'll import this ldif file, but then when I run: pdbedit -v chris Unix username:...

spec template for CRUD?
Hello, Has anyone already come up with a set of shared behaviours that someone could leverage when adhering to a CRUD concept, with respect to controllers? Relatedly, it would be nice if there were a way to share generalized behaviour specs. -Chris
