Adding new points to a metaMDS ordination ("vegan" pkg)
...DS (in the vegan package) that I can't quite figure out. I have a set of proportion data (from 0-1, rows sum to 1) that I apply metaMDS to using the command: nMDS.set=metaMDS(sqrt(test.set),distance="euclidean",k=3,zerodist="add",autotransform=FALSE) I am using a squared-chord distance metric here. It gives me a great ordination that appears to represent my ecological gradients well. What I want to do is passively add new points to the ordination in an effort to "predict" visually certain ecological attributes. I have tried adding the new points passively...

Recording piano and voice
...If I record the speaking part first, I can then somehow play it back and record the piano track while listening to the voice track to get the timing right. What I'm doing doesn't really have a beat or rhythm like a song -- it's a dramatic reading, but some of the words have a note or chord to sound along with them so getting it coordinated will be the challenge. Thanks to everyone for the help and suggestions. I'll give this a shot and see what develops. The last time I used Audacity I just had a sound effect and a voice part. I recorded the voice part with Audacity, spliced...

number of analogs in significance test of MAT reconstructions using randomTF from palaeoSig
...= sqrt( hcspc ), n = 999, fun = WAPLS, col = 4 ) I assume "col = 4" tells randomTF to test the reconstruction based on the four component WA-PLS model as that's what the documentation seems to indicate. However, in: fitmap.mat = MAT( lumapspc, lumap, dist.method = "chord", k = 20 ) sig.mat = randomTF( spp = lumapspc, env = lumapenv, fos = hcspc, n = 999, fun = MAT, col = 9 ) it seems that "col = 9" does not tell randomTF to test the reconstruction based on the 9 analog MAT model. If I give col a value other than one or two, I get a "sub...

Encore 4.1
Marcus, I am running Encore 4.1.0.0 on Windows XP. The graphic tool works for chords but the text tool crashes whenever I exit its input mode. I copy the TTF's to the Windows font folder and it still does not work. So, I just moved the TTF's to the Windows font folder without success. Do you have a solution? Very much appreciative. Sincerely, Carl Protho -------------...

upsmon/upssched shutdown problem
...but not for me. We've got a Powerware 9315, that we are serially attaching one machine to. We have several classes of systems that we want to have shut down at different times. I've been doing my config testing by attaching the master machine to a Powerware 9120, and yanking the power chord. Master: I've successfully configured the one machine so that it detects power loss, starts a timer, and shuts itself down. Slave: I've successfully configured one machine to monitor as a slave, it detects that master's gone on battery, but won't start a timer, nor will it shut...

Auto Complete
What I''m trying to do: I want to create an auto completed field for locations, but didn''t want to have the locations stored in my app. My idea is to somehow use Google to fill that auto complete text field and then retrieve chords using gmaps geocoding. Have anyone done something like this? does Google was some api to do something like that? You think there is any chance of doing this, without storing a list of locations in my db?? and which do you think is the best plugin for auto complete. Thanks in advanced every one --~...

appended text/data fields
...info for the lyrics stored in the text field, so that the output could be displayed in time with the music to provide a karoke function. Also a video link? to flash pics in sequence? or video streams? Additionally, the added field may be capable of storing music notation also or at least guitar chording for the song. There are so many socially active musicians who want their music to be heard, learned and sung that options such as these would help their effort to make their music commonly available. this might also be linked to video info so that music videos may be made. Perhaps that is par...

Multi-button mice and Linux?
Does anyone here use a multi-button (as in more than 2) mouse with Linux? How well supported are they? I've had to get one recently for work. I was diagnosed with CTS and I now wear braces and use a wireless Intellimouse. Works great at work with Windows, but I'm unsure how much, if any support there is for Linux. Anyone have experience with this? Preston

FatWreck.com - New Rails Site
After months of design and development, we''ve launched our second Rails site, http://www.fatwreck.com (assuming your DNS is updated - the pink site is the old one). The site is for legendary punk rock record label, Fat Wreck Chords and it includes a store. The old site was highly trafficked, with millions of page views per month and we expect this one to be also. So far, the server isn''t even breaking a sweat. Thank you Rails crew! The project wouldn''t have been as fun without you. Liberation Media Crew...

PWGL in wine, problems
Hello, I'm new on this list. First of all, thank you to all the developers of this great project! At the moment there is only an application that keeps me on both macos and windows, its name is PWGL a free environment for computer assisted composition in openGL. (http://www2.siba.fi/PWGL/) I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 and wine 0.9.59. I have to say that I also installed vcrun2005 and
