Choo choo here comes the FOSDEM train
Hi everyone,
It's not exactly a secret that FOSDEM will be taking place during the first
weekend of February at the usual location, the ULB Solbosch campus in
Brussels. It's also not that big of a secret that a lot of Puppeteers
attend especially now that we have a Configuration Management room.
However, it usually is a secret who will be there and that more difficult
to get in touch

dist(). Thanks for the help.

AW: CentOS 5 release for IBM z/Series?
Hi dag!
Thx for your reply!
So, there will be no release in the near future of centos 5 for Z?
At the moment we got a realy small z/linux installation, but i love it.
Keeping the TCO as low as we can was necessary to satisfy the
decision-maker.
So we decided to choos a free linux distribution, centos was a good decicion
we thougt. (redhat / fedora was always my favorite flavor *g*)
It would be great if we can give something to the community!
Personaly i can't help very much cause i'm the only knowledge carrier here
for z/linux, with anoter colleague,...

pivoting - summing up factors
Hi
I would like to know how to pivot a table that will sum the number of plants
(a or b) for each location (x,y,z)
I have read on the listserve similar questions but which involve summing up
numbers rather than factors. I have also read about the R package reshape
on the listserve but wanted to know if there's a way to do it easily without
the package
Thanks for the help!

Traffic prioritization and 'class of service' for SIP
We're got a T1 from Sprint that we use for internet. During VIOP calls,
if you download something, the VOIP calls break up.
I found some info at Sprint for adding 'class of service', and I also
have some information on configuring our Cisco routers.
I've read the relevent pages on the wiki, but it seems vauge what's
required and what's required by the NSP (Sprint).

Bug in bitmap producing pdf???
I thought I was clever.
I produce both ps and pdf files from LaTeX (MiKTeX), so
sometimes I need to get .eps graphs from R, sometmes .pdf.
To rationalize this I wrote the following function to let me
easily choos what I want wihtou changing the code in my
R-programs too much (here embedded in a small test program):
plt <-
function( file,
type = "pdf",
dir = options()$grdir,
height = 7,
width = 7,
paper = "special",
... )

How to allow specific services for machines in LAN behind router?
Hi
I know I still need to learn a lot about firewalls so if I''ve missed
some doc I should have read don''t hesitate to point it out to me.
I have set up shorewall on my desktop and my laptop and everything
appears to be working fine but now I''d like to allow certain services
(like shh, rsync, unison, http) between these two PC''s.
My LAN looks like this:

ringall might be a good workaround to resolve this problem, but i would
like to avoid this as it will result in all phones leaving "missed calls".
Would appreciate any form of advise. Thanks!

miniscule font size on R console output
Hi,
I am having a situation where I cannot change the output size of the R
console. I have played around with the font format menu but the changes are
only reflected to the script that I type in but not to the output. Everytime
I run a script, I have to go back to font format to increase the output
script, which is currently showing up as small as the dust on my computer
screen. I have mac by

Zaptel on pSeries
Dear All,
Has anyone got the Digium range of cards working on pSeries? The card seems
to be able to be detected by kudzu (I'm running RHEL3.0AS) btw, but the
drivers can't be compiled...
Asterisk and libpri worked fine though.

Samba AD client's settings transfer
Hi,
I have successfully joined my Linux box(ubuntu feisty) to Active
Directory using Samba.
Now i have installed a new Linux distro(ubuntu gutsy) and want to join it to AD.
The problem is that it is asking for some kind-of-password when i do
"net ads testjoin".
This implies that when joining a domain, some kind of mutual identity
must have been stored
by samba. right?
The questions

It would be boring if it was the server location I think. I think where
it originates is more appropriate, although for people running streams
from multiple djs at different times, this might be an issue :)
