Dovecot as LDA
FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE-p8 postfix-current-2.4.20060903,3 dovecot-1.0.r7 I am experiencing a problem with dovecot as an LDA. It will not deliver mail unless the mail directory is chmod'd to 1777. Below is an example of the log file output. The dovecot.log file had over a hundred entries similar to this: deliver(gerard): Error: open(/var/mail/.temp.scorpio.seibercom.net.1123.cd38cd4d82e1368f) failed: Permission denied deliver(gerard): Error: file_lock_dotlock() failed with...

Fun with nosetuid!
On an unpatched Centos 4.4 system I chmod'd /usr/bin/sudo to ug+s, and set the filesystem in /etc/fstab to defaults, nosetuid. Reboot, and am told sudo needs to be set to setuid root. An ls -l shows rwsrws-- root root sudo I had to use a rescue CD to undo /etc/fstab for the filesystem partition so sudo would work. What am I missi...

...39;m trying to back-up to a remote host (rsync locally works fine) & keep getting the below error messages. If I mount the remote host on my OS X box (I'm attempting to back-up my Debian boxes) the operation flows smoothly. I've upgraded my rsync version to the same as the remote host, chmod'd the permissions on the remote to 777 (I've changed them back when it didn't succeed), Googled 'til my eyes started bleeding & emailed the vendor numerous times who has tried his best but to no avail. I'm obviously doing something dumb but for the life of me I can't fi...

Computer Management - Share Security - No Read Access
Perhaps I missed a permission change on the shared directory? It's supposed to be set to 0770, correct? I created the directory from root - can't recall what the permissions where or if I chmod'd it. Would a goof on that result in the inability to set permissions when using the windows administrator account. Basically the behavior I'm seeing? ls permissions format changed in CentOS 8
...fo is notable for being in the vault's SRPMs but not on the mirrors.) I think the problem likes in the strmode API used in ls.c and it seems like that comes from libbsd, but I can't be sure until I get a workable build tree so the coreutils SRPM will install. BTW, another data point: I chmod'd a file to 0000 and now all I get is "-." for the mode string. It completely chops everything but the file type and the ACL indicator. OTOH, if I set it to 0660, I get the full string. It doesn't truncate the last octet. [ken at rocinante src]$ chmod 0000 yes.c [ken at rocina...

ls permissions format changed in CentOS 8
Found it. It happens from the process buffer inside Lugaru Epsilon. I think ls thinks it's doing a DIRED output instead of a shell output. Now I need to figure out why it thinks that. This wasn't happening in CentOS 7.

...or bayes. However, when I put a file in the public folder, the permissions do not seem to work. I've put a dovecot-shared file with root.mail permissions, 660, in just about every directory (all the public folder directories, and every personal user's control and index location), I've chmod'd to 777 each file and folder to test, etc, and no matter what, the dovecot.index.tmp in the user's index folder comes through with their permissions, and this error shows up. Am I thinking this is something different then what it is or am I completely off base? Thanks in advance, Bob do...

XP and NT printer driver conflicts
...tations do all the printer driver selections? I have even gone to the extent of setting my printer admin group to @ntadmins and making sure there were no users in the ntadmins group. I then deleted ntdrivers.tdb, ntprinters.tdb, and printing.tdb. Then I did a touch on those three files names and chmod'd them to 0400. And still samba finds a way to update these files and continue to sugguest drivers. How can i make this stop??? certain users can't map home directories
Very odd issue. Transitioning over to a new samba 3.6.9 (from 3.0.33) server. Majority of the users are ok, but a handful of users cannot map their home directories from windows7 clients. Logged into XP their homes map fine. They pass authentication: (log snippet) [2014/03/24 17:20:43.277337, 3] auth/auth.c:219(check_ntlm_password) check_ntlm_password: Checking password for unmapped

Group and Client Access Problems w/Samba 3
[Sorry this is so long; I've tried to be thorough. Please CC: any responses to me, because I haven't gotten any messages from the Samba list in over 15 hours and am concerned something is awry with my subscription.] I have recently set up a Samba 3.0.1 PDC/BDC installation with LDAP master/slave. It has been mostly successful, however, there are a few niggling issues that remain.

GPO Permissions _AGAIN_
Hi all, I'm afraid I'm back to my old issue of GPO permissions. I have two ADDCs providing an AD Domain (internal.stmaryscollege.co.uk (short-name 'SMC')). Servers are called 'ad-01' and 'tainan'. ad-01 is 'Version 4.0.10' and tainan is 'Version 4.1.0rc4' (the latest version in the package repos of the respective OSs (arch and gentoo)) I have
