I screwed around with font scaling with Gnome Tweak and also in about:config of Firefox and Thunderbird but there was always something that looked funny and some webpages didn't come out right. setting my resolution to 1600x900 is a cheesy, yet effective, way to do get what I need. ...Now if I can just get my touchpad to FRICK'N disable while typing. configure for R 1.5.x on Solaris (fwd)
...38: Unterminated `s' command ...and so on. I have tried replacing Solaris's native sed with GNU sed (in fact the above messages are from GNU sed but Solaris sed fails in a similar way). I have also tried setting CONFIG_SHELL to /foo/bar/bin/bash to force configure not to use solaris's cheesy /bin/sh . No success, so now I am at a loss. The problem occurs with R-1.5.0 but not with R-1.4.1 (and of course there is no problem on my Linux box!) Any ideas welcome. The RoR equivalent of out.write() in JSP?
All, In JSP, I can output strings in the Web page by either <%= foo %> //foo is a string or returns a string or <% out.write("test") %> //write directly to the output stream. What is the method of "writing to the output stream" in RoR? Basically, what is the equivalent of out.write()? I have an if then statement that I want to put around a call to h

Call Waiting problems
Situation, simple home setup: * Trixbox 2.0 * Feature Codes installed * GNet PA-168V based ATA * Cheesy cordless analogue phone >From what I gather, dialing *70 from the handset should activate Call Waiting. package that has a subdirectory in src
How does one tell R to compile code contained in subdirs of the /src directory? I have a few files that I'd like to keep together as one unit. The cheesy way that I can think of is to put slinks in the src directory to the files contained in the subdir, but that's not really the solution I'm looking for. I was hoping to avoid adding a configure.in file to the project. By way of background information, the files in the subdirectory are a se...

User Management / Samba 3.0.1 LDAP / USERMGR.EXE problems
...ling me to use the usrmgr.exe to manage users? The scripts work great as far as I am concerned, but with the school I work for enrolling new students soon, I need a "counselor level" tool that they can do simple tasks with. :) If not, does anyone have any recommendations for other gui / cheesy user management that will run on windows? Thanks in advance! Toby Schaefer

get quota command
...mounting the share see their quota (hard limit, not soft which is another matter) as their capacity and their appropriate free space... this is good. When I share ouf the NFS mounted volume, the PC's see the entire volume size and free space. Not so good. Okay fine, so I wrote a little cheesy script to run run quota and report back and defined it as "get quota command = myscript" in smb.conf. This works great... mostly. I wasn't seeing the values I expected to see, so I started dumping the arguments samba was passing to my scipt. I expected 3 fields: Path, type of...

Some random rails, and maybe Ruby, questions..
...ave saved up some questions regarding this for this post. So, please comment on any one of them, if not all :-) 1) Is there a library somewhere for doing stats? (e.g. mean, median, sd, skewness..) on an array in rails? 2) What library would you recommend for "publication ready" (i.e. not cheesy) histograms, scatterplots and barplots? 3) Is there some simple way of doing a frequency table of the values in an array in Ruby? My solution is > m1.each {|mem| out[mem.age] = 0 } > m1.each {|mem| out[mem.age] += 1 } where m1 is a collection of members. Are there better solutions? 4) How...

Rsync lock-up
...rogram is based on pthreads, and uses two sepereate pipes to talk to the backup script - one for data going TO the backup script, one for data comming FROM the backup script. (Our program is a daemon that allows our users to connect to it via a telnet-like program. It then presents them with a very cheesy shell they can use to run commands.) If anyone can give me a good idea as to what it is I'm doing to screw up rsync, I'd appreciate hearing it. I assume it either has something to do with the large number of files or with the interesting stdin/out games I play. My next step will be to pla...

...re from 5-10 concurrent calls. The remote office will have about 3 heavy users with two users making calls occasionally. Right now we have an existing PBX. We have a T-1/PRI coming into the main office and a DSL connection at the remote office. We have a Cisco 2610/PIX 501 at the main office a cheesy linksys router at the remote site. We are planning on purchasing new Cisco IP phones for everyone. My main question is this: What type of hardware/network design would be best for this situation? Would a full T-1 at the remote site work with a VPN between the offices? Or would a higher bandw...

playback problems with oppo BDP-95
...blem is that the manual makes no mention of FLAC, at all, and only the web page claims to support the format. Playback of flac seems to work, but files from one online vendor work flawlessly while files from other online vendors have strange glitches that sound like a chirp or some kind of cheesy sci-fi movie laser effect. My hunch is that the flac files with problems were possibly compressed with --best or -8 and are just too much for the BDP-95 to keep up with. Considering that the oppo BDP-95 supports 192 kHz playback and surround, I would expect them to use a fast processor...

(Semi-OT) QoS Question FTP Living with Asterisk
I have searched google and came up with too many options and packages that may or may not work for my needs, most articles seem to be for setting up routers. Maybe someone on the list can give me some better insight. I have monitoring turned on my "shift eight (tm)" (Asterisk ;-)) box for all calls. We have over one hundred agents and tons of recordings in wav format. I also

Uniden UIP200 Review
...y Speakerphone: It's extremely easy for the speakerphone itself to over modulate. The microphone however does seem to perform well, even if it is a *little* tin-can'ish. Hold Button: Works as expected, * puts the caller on hold, and they hear MOH. YOU on the other hand hear this really cheesy Nintendo style genre of music locally, produced by the phone. When using speakerphone and placing someone on hold, this is extremely irritating. DTMF: When you have a session, or call active, there is no local DTMF feedback over the handset or speakerphone. While I'm ok with this, I can jus...

...hat Cisco is a company offering bsuiness products for businesses. Businesses typically pay by check and wire transfer, especially for items such as this. If you want home-user pay-by-credit-card service, buy products from Belkin's home line and similar. Oh...what's that? None of these cheesy Stocked-at-Costco hardware companies have any VoIP phones worth a crap? Then deal with the fact that you are buying from a company who doesn't target home users, and deal with it. It costs Cisco more money than they make on the contract to offer SmartNet on a single device like this. You'...
