<RBloomberg Package Problem>
Hi R-Experts,
I'm currently using R 2.4.0 in Windows XP. I'm trying to download data
from Bloomberg using the package "RBloomberg", but it fails to install
the three needed packages "zoo", "chron" and 'Rbloomberg". Moreover I
am not able to find "RBloomberg" package as windows binary in CRAN
site as only for MAC it's given. Please

Ryacas check
When I do
Rcmd check Ryacas
on my Windows Vista system under
R version 2.6.0 beta (2007-09-23 r42958)
it checks out fine but here:
http://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/contrib/checkSummaryWin.html
http://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/contrib/2.5/check/Ryacas-check.log
it complains about the XML package even though the XML package
*is* declared in the DESCRIPTION file.
What is wrong?

Run up to R 2.0.0 for package maintainers
The major changes for R 2.0.0 are now in place, and we have provided a set
of notes for package maintainers at
http://developer.r-project.org/200update.txt
on both changes needed and new opportunities.
The main thing which needs to be done is to revise the DESCRIPTION file,
in particular to ensure the Depends: field is accurate.
We do run daily checks over all the CRAN packages. See

Never used it but if you look down the check list on Windows:
http://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/contrib/checkSummaryWin.html
for RBloomberg we see it has an error in attempting to access one of its
dependent packages. See if building it yourself or going back to R
2.3.1
helps.

Hunting for snow...
Evening folks:
I did an install.views of finance and econometrics and between the two of
them R reported 'FracSim', 'RDCOMClient', 'snow', 'VGAM', and 'segmented'
as missing dependencies. Now, I've managed to hunt down what appear to be
current zip file copies of all of the packages but 'snow'. Is there a
windows edition of the package out

Build Windows pkgs from source - online
Hi,
First of all, I apologize for sending out this message, as I'm sure
the answer is on the archives, but I just can't find it.
Not long ago, there was a discussion about building Windows packages
from the source code and someone posted a link to a website to which
we could submit the source and get the Windows version a while later.
Could someone point me to that website or to

Warned about these "three little maids"...
Greetings all:
Newcomer to R as I work on learning it to transfer my college classroom
stats training to something more useful and accurate then that spreadsheet
from Redmond which shall remain nameless.
I'm running v2.6.2 on a Win XP Home system that I keep up to date with all
the called for patches. Haven't added much to the basic install other than
the bits and bobs needed to run

RQuantlib ?Windows Binary?
R:
Is there a reason why there isn't a Windows Binary version of RQuantlib on
CRAN? Usually when there is no binary, I just source the source code, but
this one appears to have various calls and methods and things like that so
I'm hesitant to do so. I know there has been a big discussion on why
Rmetrics doesn't have source for unix/linux, but that isn't on CRAN.

Updated Windows toolchain
An updated toolchain is now being used for Windows' builds of R-devel:
details are in the R-admin manual and at
http://www.murdoch-sutherland.com/Rtools/ and
http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/Rtools/
Both 32- and 64-bit parts of the toolchain use v2.0.1 of the Mingw-w64
project's runtime and a beta of gcc 4.5.4: the Mingw.org project's
builds are no longer used. This should mean that

How to skip re-installing CRAN packages when updating R?
Dear R-helpers:
I am new to R and would like to seek your expert opinion on installation
tip. Many thanks in advance.
I want to update my R to the newest version and wonder the following two
questions:
Question 1:
How can I install R and its contributed packages in a way so when updating R
in the future, I do NOT need to
re-install contributed packages used by R of last version.
Question 2:

lattice package for R 2.0.0

I am trying to install packages with the new R 2.0.0. However for
several packages, like MASS, lattice or R2HTML, I get an error like:

However, I have just downloaded the latest versions from CRAN.
As far as lattice is concerned, it seems that the Windows binary is

Oddities upgrading from 2.4.1 to 2.5.0
I'm working on Windoze XP and have for some time installed R in D:\R and
upgraded my packages after installing the new version of R with a bit
of code I think I got from the list:
ip <- installed.packages(lib.loc = "d:\\R\\R-2.4.1\\library")
ip <- ip[ip[,1]!="base" ,1]
install.packages(ip)
This time around that's produced some warning grumbles:
