...roblems. my objects contains both sambaSamAccount and posixAccount (and shadowAccount) with uid, gid, homedirectory, etc. i'm setting up another samba server just for file services. in official docs says i must set up winbind: http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/unixclients.html#ch9-sambadc but if i've already got uids and gids i guess i need no mappings. is this right? can i ignore winbind in my setup? regards, abosch

Hallo! after migrating the pdc from nt to samba+ldap my member fileserver doesn't see the groups anymore. I set it up with nss as shown in: http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/unixclients.html#ch9-sdmnss getent passwd + group show all user and groups correctly wbinfo -u shows all users correctly, but wbinfo -g show only 2 builtin accounts. I tried without nss only with winbind before in the hope I had not to reset all permissions but it was exacty the same. Machine is debian/etch samba...

I'm using Samba 3.0.0-2 on Redhat 8 as a print server. Everything seems to be working well except the Windows 4.0 Generic Text drivers. I've set up the W32X86 drivers and they work perfectly under XP/2000, but I cant seem to figure out the Win9x situation.
