either using IP address or server_name give same error above.
Using 'ping' both machine have no problem at all, either pinging itself or
from other machine.
If I turn to the documentation 'Using Samba' found at
file:/usr/share/swat/using_samba/ch09_02.html#ch09_12446,
it says, if nmblookup -B 127.0.0.1 '*' succeeds, but -B client_ip_address
fails, there is a hardware problem and ping should have failed.
In my case, ping works fine, but nmblookup failed.
Could any of you have such experience ?

problems after upgrade to HP 11.X
...ildly recommend against using
1.9 on an OS it's not been tested on, and 1.9 predated
HP/UX 10. You should update your samba to 2.0.7, try it
on on a test machine and migrate it to the HP.
That having been said, the diagnostic procedure at
http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/samba/chapter/book/ch09_02.html
was actually written using 1.9.18, then updated for 2.x
Give it a try, it only takes about 10 minutes.

Diagnosis Tests - Failed #5
I'm working on the first of a few Samba machines for our network.
It's running RedHat 6.2 and Samba 2.0.7.
On the NT 4.0 side of things I can see the machine (with the correct name)
if I do NET VIEW or look in the Network Neighborhood. However, when I do
"NET VIEW \\SambaServer" I get an Error 5 Access Denied. (Test 8)
So I started on the diagnosis and got to Item 5.
When I

other windows machines show up on the explorer list and in the network
neighborhood, but Mugwin Does not show up in the network neighborhood, and
neither does mug.
Below is a diff of my smc.conf file from the smb.conf.default
Both DIAGNOSIS.txt and
http://us2.samba.org/samba/oreilly/using_samba/ch09_02.html seem to say I
have no problem with browsing, since their tests work, but I am still not
seeing my machines in the graphical browse lists.
Has this happened to anyone else? Has anyone a suggestion?
Dave.

I have worked my way through the tests in DIAGNOSIS.txt, and all
tests pass. If I run Test 9 "net use x: \\BIGSERVER\TMP" from a MS-DOS
prompt, then I can see my linux /tmp directory in x:.
BUT if I just log in to Windows
