Samba 3.0.14a vs. 2.0.7, is "include =" recursive?
Hi, I upgraded a mid-sized samba install (+-150 pc's) from Samba 2.0.7 to 3.0.14a last night. It is acting as a PDC and the upgrade went smooth except for one thing. Under 2.0.7, it seems like the "include =" is recursive.. ie: in included files, you can include files. This behavior seems to have changed in 3.0.14a. Can someone confirm this? My setup: smb.conf include =

AIX 4.3 machine accounts > 8 characters?
Hi, I am trying to plan a deployment of Samba as a PDC, where Samba 3.0.14a on AIX 4.3 would be controlling about 150 PC's. This is stricly login & login scripts, no roaming profiles. It is currently working and participating in the "Workgroup" politely. This was a migration from Samba 2.0.7, and to keep things simple I am using passdb backend = smbpasswd AIX is

Process build properly after applying patchs to 3.0.20
Hi, I am trying to test some patches that have been made post 3.0.20. I have Samba 3.0.20 src installed. I have applied two patches from SVN (9484, 9481). I have run autoconf. Poking around after "configure", I discovered I needed to run "autoheader" as well. This is fine, but I am wondering if I have missed any other steps? My steps... tar -xvzf samba-3.0.20.tar.gz

Migrating user profiles from local to domain
Hi, I am trying to plan a migration of approximately 160 PC's from a workgroup environment to using Samba (3.0.14a) as a PDC (on AIX 4.3, to be 5.3 in near future). They will NOT be using roaming profiles, as this is not appropriate for the client. Joining the machine to the domain, logging in works, everything's cool. These computers were all in a workgroup previously and had a

Permissions problem/misunderstanding ... "Domain Admins" vs. Administrators
Hi, Using Samba 3.0.14a and AIX 4.3, I have been able to join PC's to the domain without any problem. It "just works". I am using local profiles, and serving login batch files from the server, and that "just works". So far, I'm a happy camper. Now, I am trying to understand permissions so that I can actually use the "moveuser.exe" command from the

BUG: samba-3.0.14a & samba-3.0.20pre2 endless loop AIX 5.3 (jfs2) & Win98
Hi, I have replaced an older AIX system with a new one running AIX 5.3, all the latest patches. It is acting as a PDC (I think irrelevant). The old server was running AIX 4.3.2 with Samba 3.0.14a (upgraded from 2.0.7) , and was working 100% fine. I had the old server running 3.0.14a for 6 weeks prior to the upgrade as part of my migration plan. There are Windows 98 boxes that connect to
