Asterisk at CeBit 2005
Hi there,
I just wanted to point out that Asterisk will be present at CeBit this year.
We gathered some money from sponsors and were able to afford a booth together
with a training-company. We'd be happy to find others joining us at the booth
somewhere between 10th and 16th of March in Hannover, Germany :-)
Kind regards ...

Review: Asterisk at CeBIT 2005 / Asterisk at Linux-Tag 2005
For all who are interested: A quick review of CeBIT 2005. :-)
CeBIT was a very successfull event. Most of the time, the asterisk-booth was
crowded with more people than we could talk to.
We had with us a demo-installation including different IP-phones, digital and
analog phones as well as a Siemens HiPATH PBX to which our Asterisk-server
served as a VoIP-gateway, and many people were impressed

Hello List :-)
I'm sorry that this is a bit off-topic, but I don't know where to ask this

Is there anyone who can tell if Asterisk will be present at CeBIT this year?
Kind regards

CeBIT goodies
I saw a quick demo of HotLava's multiport ethernet cards at CeBIT last week. The guy there had a low-spec server with two multi-port 10Gbe cards in sitting there sustaining 200Gbit/sec. I was quite impressed, thought it might be of interest to gluster users. They're very pretty when they're all lit up :) http://www.hotlavasystems.com/
I also saw an interesting low-cost 'fat

Looking for wine success stories
Hi folks,
I'm going to be giving a talk at CeBit next month, and would
like to showcase a couple of Wine success stories. If your
organization is using Wine on more than ten desktops,
please let me know how many desktops you're using it
on, and what apps you're using with it.
Thanks!

misdn
Hi all,
I just arrived in Italy from Cebit, qhere I spoke with digium and Beronet
people.
They told me to try to use the mISDN stack to drive beronet and the new
upcoming digium ISDN Cards.
SO I searched, find
http://www.beronet.com/download/card_installation_guide.pdf, and I
immediately got the error:
asterisk01:~ # cd /usr/src/install-misdn/
asterisk01:/usr/src/install-misdn # make install

samba groupware integration
Hi,
I'd like to install a groupware server in our institute and looking for
a software, which connects samba and the groupware server, for example
for authentication (may be LDAP) and (more importent) to see the samba
shares (user and groups) in the groupware web-front-end. I've talked
this week to the open-xchange people at CeBit, and if I understud them
right, the samba integration is

Share size limits NFS file transfer
My samba server has a 1GB partition on which I have a bunch of
symlinks to the correct storage via NFS - there are completely valid
reasons for this. Unfortunately clients see the share size as 1GB
rather than the 200TB cluster that's attached via NFS and thus I can't
copy over a 2GB file.
Is there anyway to fake the advertised share size on a per share basis
(clients can't write to

Asterisk Dialplan command "PPPD" released
Hello all!
Sirrix AG, Saarbr?cken (manufacturer of the Sirrix.PCI4S0 4-port ISDN
card for Asterisk) has released the new Asterisk dialplan command PPPD
(app_pppd). It allows to connect a Linux PPP daemon to an arbitrary
digital (ISDN) Asterisk channel to provide RAS dialin and dialout.
The PPPD command has successfully been tested with Sirrix.PCI4S0 cards
and a standard ISDN4Linux ipppd "on

ZyXEL Prestige 200w - should I return it ?
Hi all
I have just got a P2000w and experience several problems. Hopefully there is
someone out there that has got it working. I saw it on Cebit and the person
demonstrating it there told me that it was connected to an Asterisk server
on the stand -so it should work.
Problem 1: it does not register correctly
It get lots of messages like this:

Group Policy Linux Machines
Hey all-
So linux machines in my domain, served by a Samba4 PDC, show up in the Administrative Tools. I was testing GP to see if it would apply to linux machines -- a basic one, just trying to deny a user from logging in. It does nothing; though from samba-tool, I can verify this policy is linked to the machine. Is it just that GP is designed for Windows machines such that they will have no

Send flash through zap channel
Hi everyone,
our setup includes a NEC PBX connected to our asterisk via bri lines.
The NEC has a doorphone feature, which is just an extension that calls you when someone rings. When connected to this extensions, a 'flash' signalling opens the door.
So now, i'd like to trigger this from asterisk, too, but unfortunately wasn't able to do so.

Zap timing device
Dear list,
I have been using asterisk for some time now. However I have never
used it with any of the digium or compatable cards (Purely used for
SIP).
I understand that for using Meetme, I need to have a timing device,
which could either be hardware or zrdummy etc (I am not using any
right now).
Can someone tell me if the timing device is needed for voicemail and
other applications too?. I am

Coming events in Europe
Friends,
This week I'll be in Lissabon speeking at a Voip Conference on
Wednesday. I'm not aware if there's
an Asterisk Users group in Lissabon, but if there is maybe there
would be a chance to meet.
Next week, I'll be at Cebit, in the Digium stand. If you want to meet
me, I'll be in the stand between
2 and 4 pm together with Voop on tuesday and wednesday.

/O

maybe OT: Univention.de UCS
Hello List,
the UCS GUI Univention made looks quite nice and useful. Since they put
it open source it became interesting for us.
I am a little confused that they only provide ISO images and not the
Management Project as source code since I don't want to depend on them.
Has someone got a little experience with it?
Thanks, Mario

samba to respect cups-ACLs?
Hello
since newer versions (1.2) the cups-libs can inteprete the printer-ACLs in a
way that a user only gets printers listed he is allowed to use.
Samba is "bypassing" that by talking to Cups as root, not as the user who is
actually printing. Is there a way to avoid that?
Windows has it's own level of access rules for printers (like for
filesystems), is there a way to use them

R and sun gridengine
Hi
I am looking for assistance with setting up R under Sun grid engine 6
(6.0-update7). I would like to set up transparent interactive access
to R using either a qlogin or qrsh solution. While it basically works
using either method, I reach the same sticking point. There seems
to be an issue with signalling or something, as R works ok until a
non-R command is typed in - eg "blah" - at
