Font issue in Half-Life 2 via Wine 1.3.0
Greetz guys, I have recently installed Wine 1.3.0, with winetricks (31/7/2010), and installed all the fonts available (via winetricks allfonts). Everything downloaded and "installed" fine. Now, I was playing Half-Life 2 on Wine 1.2 and it was working perfectly. I've installed Wine 1.3.0 and continued my game. But now, the fonts are messed (there are random letters missing from

F.E.A.R.
Well, I want to get FEAR working on my jaunty install. I have already got it to install, I applied the FEAR patch, and noCD'd it. But when I try to start it, it doesn't do anything. I've been looking around and I got this page: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=5159&iTestingId=12223 Now, I'm seeing stuff about "1. Put native d3dx9_36.dll

Starting DirectX game screws up display (ATI Catalyst 8.6)
Hi, since installing the new ATI Catalyst 8.6 drivers - starting games (or sometimes even starting winecfg) screws up my display and I have to restart the xserver. (amd x2 4000+, ati hd2600 xt, wine version is 1.1.1 on Ubuntu Hardy updated every day) Looks similar to this photo: http://i38.tinypic.com/2d0chmc.jpg However, if i take a screenshot by pressing the "print" key the image

Wine 3D leads to weird screen
Hi Folks, starting from yesterday on (I updated my SuSE, before it worked perfectly). I get a weird graphic output starting an 3D game in wine (I use WOW for tests, it already worked flawlessly). This is like, the screen is duplicated left to right, and the whole screen is like looking through an interference (lot of small blocks making stuff unsharp). I checked out native OpenGL games (e.g.

ATI fglrx + wine ==> The Checkerboard of Doom
...as it was called on Phoronix forums. After this (http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=2066) discussion, I have decided to give the ATI/AMD fglrx drivers another go... and immediately remembered why I gave them up in the first place. That was version 8.5. Now, two versions after (yes, I've overslept a whole release, and I feel fascinatingly relaxed after that), the problem persists.

Counter-Strike 1.6 bad display (+error list)
I am running linux debian (lenny) and i installed better graphical driver (fglrx), because the older one (ati) was too slow....i had 1700FPS with the older and now i have 3000FPS, so i ma happy. But when i tried to run CS 1.6 on wine (it is said to run perfectly on Debian Lenny), i got pixels on my screen scattered and I could not read anything (or even see anything clearly). I got this list of

Rendering problems in GW
I'm trying to get Guild Wars working under Wine. I'm running on a Phenom 9950 with 4GB of RAM and a radeonHD 4850. I have wine 1.1.4 and catalyst 8.8 installed on Ubuntu Hardy (8.04). When GW starts, it seems to render correctly, except that the blocks of graphics seem to be positioned in the wrong places, so that all the screen is jumbled up. When I take a screenshot, (through the gw

Garbled fonts
When I try to run a certain DirectX app, all of the fonts become garbled. A screenshot is at http://jackmcbarn.no-ip.org/login.png I've already tried setting HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\X11 Driver\ClientSideWithRender to N, which didn't appear to have any effect at all. Increasing the DPI increased the font size, but they were still garbled.

[feature request] fglrx without Xgl works with copy method in beryl
...ork without tfp) to make it use direct rendering on "aiglx method" and removed check for GLX_SGIX_fbconfig, which fails. - I was able to run beryl on fglrx WITHOUT Xgl. Only bug with windows drawing exists(as noticed in latest known issues for ati drives), more about this bug - http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=725 So developers, pleeease, add --use-copy method to compiz, even not to git, at least as a patch. So after amd/ati will fix bug with composite (I so hope) we will be able to get compiz/beryl without Xgl.(inderect rendering will be still software). few screenshots http://img124...

Strangest and weirdest problem ever!
I am rather new to Linux. I started using it full time with Ubuntu GG the day it was released. So far I was using Wine to be able to use a single program. Lately, I started thinking I could use Wine for emulation. Either it's Final Burn Alpha, Demul or any emulators, my screen gets corrupted. See image : Can you see

I am running Arch linux on my laptop and I installed wine a while back to check if one application I use would work with it or not. Monitor power save question
I decided to try the x86_64 version of CentOS 5 on my new desktop since it has an Athlon 64 X2 CPU. The one really perplexing oddity is that the monitor no longer goes to power save mode (standby) if the system is idle long enough (e.g., overnight). The "power management" option is set to put the display to sleep after thirty minutes. The display gets blanked but it never goes to

pciback for usb-controller and usb-storage on x86_64 ends in Oops
Hi! I tried to pcipassthrough usb-controllers to domu to use it with a memory-stick. First xen complained that the driver needs write-access to its configuration space, so I added these to pci-quirks. Since it still didn''t work I also added the device to pci-permissive but I still get an errormessage with Oops (at the end of this email) when sticking in the memory-stick. I tried
