Casualty Actuarial Society request for proposals for R Workshop
I'm a property-casualty actuary, use R in at my job, and lurk on the list. In conjunction with one of its meetings, the Casualty Actuarial Society (I'm a member) is looking for proposals from people to teach a workshop in R and I thought members of the list might be interested. I've pasted the information belo...

Hi, I am trying to download some data using read.csv and it works perfectly in RStudio and fails in the R console in the terminal in Ubuntu 18.04 after upgrading from R 3.6.3 to 4.0.2. Before upgrading this worked in the R console in the terminal also without any issues. Why would that be? How to fix this? Below please find R code output and sessionInfo(). *Works in RStudio* >

IMPORTANT: LLVM.org server move complete (SVN impact please read)
LLVMers, We have completed the move to the new server for LLVM.org. One casualty of this move was that svn.llvm.org was NOT enabled at this time. There is a new certificate for LLVM.org and HTTPS is enabled for the website. We know of a few issues with some of the webpages but will be working them out over the next few days. Please do not hesitate to contact llvm-admin at li...

[LLVMdev] Flag and Glue
My understand is that in DAG terminology, Flag is now called Glue. It would be nice for someone to go through and clean up the code as far as comments and variable names. That was driving me close to the brink of insanity till I found out about this. Even in Selection Dag Node Properties def SDNPOutGlue : SDNodeProperty; // Write a flag result def SDNPInGlue : SDNodeProperty;

Clark method enhancement to ChainLadder package
Greetings, Version 0.1.4-0 of the ChainLadder package is available via CRAN and http://code.google.com/p/chainladder/ The ChainLadder package, which is focused on claims reserving methods typically carried out by property/casualty insurance actuaries, has recently been enhanced to implement the methods in David Clark's 2003 CAS (Casualty Actuarial Society) *Forum* paper "LDF Curve-Fitting and Stochastic Reserving: A Maximum Likelihood Approach." Clark's methods are ready to be put to use on a wide variety o...

can you recommend a good manual for R that starts with a data set and gives demonstrations on what can be done using R? I downloadedR Langauage definition and An introduction to R but haven't found them overly useful. I'd really like to be able to follow some tutorials using a dataset or many datasets. The datasets I have available on R are Data sets in package 'datasets':

[RESEND PATCH 2/3] nouveau: fix mixed normal and device private page migration
...t migrate_vma args = { > .vma = vma, > .start = start, > + .src_owner = drm->dev, Hi Ralph, This .src_owner setting does look like a required fix, but it seems like a completely separate fix from what is listed in this patch's commit description, right? (It feels like a casualty of rearranging the patches.) thanks, -- John Hubbard NVIDIA

(?) Mailman VERY slow with IPv6 (with work-around)
I recently stood up an EL7 box with Mailman for a few lists I run for some friends. My old install, on an EL6 system, ran with no issues for several years but I was induced to upgrade by a "hardware casualty" on the old system. I was going to have to rebuild anyway, so why not take it as an opportunity to try EL7? The build went fine and I was able to migrate the lists over with no issues, but once I got there just about everything to do with Mailman operations were painfully slow. For example,...
