modeling logit(y/n) using lrm
I have a dataset at a hospital level (as opposed to the patient level)
that contains number of patients experiencing events (call this number
y), and the number of patients eligible for such events (call this
number n). I am trying to model logit(y/n) = XBeta. In SAS this can be
done in PROC LOGISTIC or GENMOD with a model statement such as: model
y/n = <predictors>;. Can this be done

Invoking SAS in order to use sas.get
I am trying to use the sas.get function to bring a SAS dataset into R.
After calling the sas.get function I got an error message stating that
'sas' is not a recognized internal or external command, etc. I am
guessing that I need to specify the internal command to invoke SAS in
the sasprog option for the sas.get function, but I don't know how to
determine what that command might be.

does icecast care what it streams?
...i.e. could it stream arbitrary stuff (such as video) if i don't
care about metadata?

R vs. Stata
I have read some very good reviews comparing R (or Splus) to SAS. Does
anyone know if there are any reviews comparing R (or Splus) to Stata? I
am trying to get others to try R in my department, and I have never used
Stata.

Intel DH67BL + CentOS 5.5 IRQ #177 nobody cared
Hello,
We have built a couple of CentOS 5.5 systems on the Intel DH67BL (Sandy Bridge) motherboard and overall they work pretty well.
I'm having one problem which keeps cropping up and that is an error message that says:
IRQ 177 nobody cared (try booting with the irqpoll option)
report bad irq, references CPU idle
then it references usb_hcd_irq and e1000_intr
then it disables the add-on

oddness when adding to index -
I was having some odd results when working with acts_as_ferret (current
trunk), so I decided to test with the current version of ferret to see
if I encountered the same problem. I did. Here are the details:
installed ferret 0.10.10 on debian sarge with ''sudo gem install ferret''
(btw, same results on OSX)
opened up an irb session:

Call Recording
Hello!
I inherited an asterisk setup that works fine, but I'd like to make a
change and it's not working the way I want.
Right now, our incoming calls are recorded at the "Queue" level. It
works but it records hold music, etc and when the call is sent to an
extension, the "Channel ID" (I think it's called) is not accessible via
the API to pause the recording. For

irq 9: nobody cared(try booting with the "irqpoll" option)
Hi
I am getting the error : irq 9: nobody cared(try booting with the "irqpoll"
option) before a kernel panic and the server reboots. Fresh installation of
CentOS 5.1. I selected the virtualisation option for install and was
presented with the xen kernel upon reboot. however the error mentioned
comes up. The non-xen kernel works fine. I''ve googled and its seems a

Lost Saga / Rusty Hearts compatibility
Hello everyone,
I'm a big fan of Lost Saga but despite we can finally use the launcher and update the game, it'll still not start because of X-trap (like Rusty Hearts).
I read that Wine's developers doesn't want to solve the problem because of privacies problems, but personally I don't care that much [Wink]

Debug Locations for Optimized Code
I don't see how ASan and debuggers are different. It feels like both need reasonably accurate source location attribution for any instruction. ASan just happens to care more about loads and stores than interactive stepping debuggers.
Actually they are pretty different in their requirements.
ASan cares about *accurate* source location info for *specific* instructions, the ones that do
