RSync on Netware
Hello, I have ported rsync 2.5.5 to Netware and would like to, at least, contribute the binary so that people can download it. It says on the website to use the bug tracking system to do this, but since that isn't working, I thought I would try this. Thanks for any help or direction. Lee

January Ruby events in the SF Bay Area
Bosco So has located a promising new venue for the SF Ruby Meetup: There is WiFi access to the Internet as well as a large plasma TV/monitor for presentations. In addition to offering caffeine in various forms, they have sandwiches and desserts. Lastly, there are lots of dining opportunities nearby for apres-event chowing. -- http://ruby.meetup.com/6/events/4815812 Meanwhile, I''m continuing to schedule Beer & Pizza SIGs, allowing us to have comestibles, convers...

glibc update
Still too much blood in my caffeine stream.... IIRC, someone was asking about a problem with DNS queries and IPv6 yesterday. I just got a notification from RH this morning, about a glibc bugfix update, and wondered if this might impact that problem.... Excerpt: This update fixes the following bug: * Prior to this update, glibc inco...

Mac Clients Disconnect with: source3/smbd/service.c:1050(close_cnum) closed connection to service data
Hello, I have an issue where Macs running a wide range of OS versions all drop connections at seemingly random intervals, but usually after some long period of time less than 24 hours. The Windows clients keep their connections, however. I can test this in PowerShell with a loop like the following: PS C:\Users\louis> while($true) { Add-Content Z:\_smbcheck\windwows-client.txt $DT; Start-Sleep

bypass_rescue and its inverse
...ss the other option is to figure out how to declaratively spec rescue from (which I, and judging by forks of the rspec_on_rails_matchers plugin, several others figured out for before filters)... Bit unawake yet, may follow up with an answer to my own question when I''ve imbibed the caffeine. -- Matt Patterson | Design & Code <matt at reprocessed org> | http://www.reprocessed.org/

Broke ggplot...
It appears I broke ggplot in my script, but that maybe it is because the caffeine has worn off or maybe it is late in the day.   I thought I was beginning to understand ggplot, but I have encountered a silly little issue.   For some reason the following does not produce a histogram with fill due to the Person's characteristics: (Note that VADeaths_flat_df$Data works fine.....

Dealing with Non-Standard Hours
A data set I obtained has the hours running from 01 through 24 rather than the conventional 00 through 23. My favorite, strptime, balks at hour 24. I thought it would be easy to correct but it must be too late on Friday for my brain and caffeine isn't helping. initial setup of centos linux 7 core license information license not accepted
...======================================= ==================================================== Initial setup of CentOS 7 (Core) 1) [!] License information (License not accepted) Please make your choice from above ['q' to quit | 'c' to continue | 'r' to refresh]: My caffeine-deprived response was to try q, c, and r, none of which got me unstuck. Forced to actually use my brain, I typed 1. More confusing text appeared, and I finally understood that in order to accept the license I must type 2. Then I had to type 1 again for some reason. Then my machine booted. It is p...

Setting a Red->Yellow->Green Color Transition in Image(...) with yellow corresponding with the Mean Value...
...alue (for the below 75). ? I was able to figure something like out when using filled.contour(...), e.g. filled.contour(ak.fan, levels = c(70, 73, 76,?80, 90), color = terrain.colors) (I still couldn't get the Red->yellow->green transition figured out for this example...ugh...need more caffeine) ? I am hoping a similar amount of control is available using image: ? library(akima) ? hyp_distance<-seq(1,15) angle_deg_val<-seq(0,15) ? x_distance_val<-NULL y_distance_val<-NULL for(ii in 1:length(hyp_distance)) { ?????? for(jj in 1:length(angle_deg_val)) ?????? { ?????????????? x...

New UPS protocol choice - Dynamix
Gidday all - I'm a new user to nut. I've got some cheap powerpal UPSs working fairly well. However I also have a new Dynamix UPS-1700D and an old Powercom KIN-1700 something unit that I cannot make work right. The best method I've found is "trial and error" which sounds a bit last-resort. Is there any better way to find out what protocol is used? -- Criggie

Help - samba keeps dialing out
Hi, I have just set up samba on my FreeBSD 4.5 stable box, and have it integrating quite nicely with windows 2000 server ( not set up as a PDC ), however the FreeBSD server keeps dialing out approx every 10 minutes or so. The FreeBSD Server is also acting as a DNS Server ( IPv4 ) and the dial up is handled through the tunneling device. This has been working fine until I have installed samba and

R under Ubuntu 8.10 / Wine
It looks as if installing R under Ubuntu 8.10 is going to be much more complicated than I thought it was going to be. I hadn't realized that it would depend on installing so many other packages (about 23, it seems), many of which also have their own dependencies. So I wondered whether all of these are really essential, and whether there is a single package anywhere that includes them all for

what is R best for; what should one learn in addition to R
Hi, I've been working with R for a couple of years, and I've been able to get most of the things done that I needed (sometimes in a roundabout way). A few experienced statisticians told me that R is best for interactive data analysis, but for large-scale computations, one needs something else. I understand that this all depends on what you are trying to accomplish, and R offers many ways
