Can a zpool cachefile be copied between systems?
...ool) and then copy this cachefile from the master
host to all of your other hosts. When you need to rapidly bring up a
virtual fileserver on a non-default host, you can just run
zpool import -c /where/ever/<host>.cache -a
However, the S10U6 zpool documentation doesn''t say if zpool cachefiles
can be copied between systems and used like this. Does anyone know if
this is a guaranteed property that is sure to keep working, something
that works right now but there''s no guarantees that it will keep working
in future versions of Solaris and patches, or something that doesn''t...

cachefile for snail zpool import mystery?
...hanks.
We have a few VCS clusters, each has a set of service groups that
import/export some zpools at proper events on a proper node
(with ''-R /'' option). To fix the long delays, it seems I can use
the ''zpool set cachefile=/x/... ...'' for each pool, deploy
all cachefiles to every cluster node of a cluster on a persisent
location,/y/, then have the agent online script do
''zpool import -c /y/...'', if /y/... exists. Any better fix?
1. Why would it ever take so long (20-30 minutes!) to import a pool?
It seems I/O on the FC SAN were just fine, no er...

Ways to speed up ''zpool import''?
We''re planning to build a ZFS-based Solaris NFS fileserver environment
with the backend storage being iSCSI-based, in part because of the
possibilities for failover. In exploring things in our test environment,
I have noticed that ''zpool import'' takes a fairly long time; about
35 to 45 seconds per pool. A pool import time this slow obviously
has implications for how fast

speed and connection problems after samba upgrade - RH 5 -> RH 5.1, samba 3.0.23c -> 3.0.25b
...les from the server (e.g. an 600MB iso) takes about 60 seconds
- that's also o.k.
But opening smal files on the server takes sometimes that long ...
My question is: Could it be, that the update includes some changes in
timeouts or locking funtions? Which options may I check? Or are there
some cachefiles to be checked?
The logfile has no obvious hints for me right now...
Thanks for any hints and tips!
Best regards

Loading Cached Weaver Objects
Hello,
I'm looking for a way to extract objects from what gets created when I Sweave with driver = weaver(). I found where the .Rdata objects are, but when I load one into R, I don't see anything that looks like the objects that were created in that code chunk.

ZFS import on pool with same name?
I have an OpenSolaris snv_101 box with ZFS on it. (Sun Ultra 20 M2)
zpool name is rpool. The
I have a 2nd hard drive in the box that I am trying to recover the ZFS
data from (long story but that HD became unbootable after installing IPS
on the machine)
Both drives have a pool named "rpool", so I can''t import the rpool from
the 2nd drive.

mounting a copy of a zfs pool /file system while orginal is still active
Hello SUN gurus I do not know if this is supported, I have a created a zpool consisting of the SAN resources and created a zfs file system. Using third part software I have taken snapshots of all luns in the zfs pool. My question is in a recovery situation is there a way for me to mount the snapshots and import the pool while the original is still active. Right now all I am able to do is export

ZFS recovery tools
Hi,
I have just recovered from a ZFS crash. During the antagonizing time this took, I was surprised to
learn how undocumented the tools and options for ZFS recovery we''re. I managed to recover thanks
to some great forum posts from Victor Latushkin, however without his posts I would still be crying
at night...
I think the worst example is the zdb man page, which all it does is to ask you

Can RH AS3 be a ADS member with winbind+nss+krb5?
Samba is trying to be a member server in an AD in native mode, using
winbind, nss, and kerberose. There are 3 kdc's (2 are Win2003, 1 is
Win2000), samba server is RH-AS3 + Samba version 3.0.9 (from samba.org)
+ krb5 1.3.1-6 (from Fedora Core). I thought I had things working (join
succeeded, could access shares, modify files), and then it stopped
working. After clearing out the host account

libzfs zfs_create() fails on sun4u daily bits (daily.1110)
I encountered a strange libzfs behavior while testing a zone fix and
want to make sure that I found a genuine bug. I''m creating zones whose
zonepaths reside in ZFS datasets (i.e., the parent directories of the
zones'' zonepaths are ZFS datasets). In this scenario, zoneadm(1M)
attempts to create ZFS datasets for zonepaths. zoneadm(1M) has done
this for a long time (since

Problems booting into ZFS on recent stable/9
I had a sparc64 (Netra X1) running a stable/9 from late March 2013. Actually, the kernel may've been a bit newer than that as I was working with folks to diagnose and repair some Netra-X1 specific issues. But, ZFS worked fine. I have two pools, zroot as a RAID1 (using equally sized partitions at the front of two large disks), and a zdata that is a large pool of the remaining space of both

multiple disk failure
Hi,
I am using FreeBSD 8.2 and went to add 4 new disks today to expand my
offsite storage. All was working fine for about 20min and then the new
drive cage started to fail. Silly me for assuming new hardware would be
fine :(
The new drive cage started to fail, it hung the server and the box
rebooted. After it rebooted, the entire pool is gone and in the state
below. I had only written a few
