arris tm502g cablemodem FXS ports and zaptel 1.4.8
Hi there,
I have a cablemodem, ARRIS brand, model tm502G. It has two FXS ports.
I was wondering if anyone has details about the correct signalling of
these FXS ports when connected to original X100p.
Tests:
fxsks on the zapata.conf and zaptel.conf files. From my cellphone I
call the ARRIS, it starts ringing but the zap channel...

IProute2 and netfilter interactions
...of the list archives and
other places, I''m worried about unintended interactions between iptables and
iproute2. Here is my situation
I have an internal network on eth0 and two separate dmzs on eth1 and eth2
respectively (a wireless network and a kiosk). On the outbound side, I have a
cablemodem provider and a dsl provider. What I need is to set up routing such
that the internal network goes out on the dsl, while the dmzs go out on the
cablemodem.
What would be the best approach to this configuration? Will there be any
unforseen interactions between iproute and iptables?
Thanks,

Samba over IPX/NetBeui
Hello:
Is it possible to run SAMBA over IPX/NetBeui? (I will thank any suggestion)
I hava an small LAN of 3 computers, connected to the Internet through a Cable-modem with DHCP (the cablemodem and the computers are all connected to a hub). The CableModem assigns every computer a random public IP adress, but usually from diferent range (ie: 212.78.x.x, 62.57.x.x, etc), so I cannot get SAMBA or NetBIOS over TCP/IP to work.
I used to share some files with Windows using NetBios over IPX (an...

A strong case for IPX support in Samba and smbfs
I would benefit from IPX support in both Samba and smbfs.
I subscribe to Road Runner, a cablemodem service run by Time Warner
Cable. The cablemodem hooks up to an ethernet hub. The ethernet hub is
hooked to three computers. One of those computers runs Windows 98. The
other two can dual boot between Windows 98 and Linux. TCP/IP works
perfectly on all the computers, in both Win98 and Linux (R...

Icecast relay as a source to another icecast?
...'d like to be able to have icecast reach out to
another icecast server as a client. Is this possible with relaying? From
what I read relaying and master relaying both have the server reach out to
another server.
The reason is this.
I have a hardware encoder (Telos audioactive) sitting on a cablemodem.
I have a remote provider (streamcheap or something) set to relay the telos
unit.
It works, but eventually traffic on my cablemodem or other situations
cause the remote to disconnect. It never is able to reconnect again for
some reason.
I changed it where I have the telos unit talking to a lo...

Issues with dhclient support in 4.2.8
...ev eth2
table 2" Failed
Could the issue be the trailing ";" that didn''t get stripped?
Relevant software versions:
CentOS 5.2
dhclient-3.0.5-13.el5
shorewall-4.2.8-2
shorewall-perl-4.2.8-2
iproute-2.6.18-7.el5
dhclient is a default out-of-the-box configuration, hooked to a cablemodem.
Let me know if you''d like me to also provide you with a copy of the
leases file generated by dhclient.

Connected to the lan are some voip devices, ive configured htb in eth1 to

Several basic doubts
I have a connection cablemodem (down 1024kbit up 256 kbit) that spreads Internet to a LAN of 4 PC. Router-firewall is one 486 DX4 100 96 MB RAM that runs a Debian Sarge (kernel 2,4,25), that does NOT serve nor squid, nor samba, nor smtp, etc.... single do routing-firewalling.

samba and dhcp problem
Hello,
Can someone please help me out with the following. I have
installed Samba for FreeBSD. It runs and at *times* runs great. But
here is the big problem. Well the problem involves the ISP I am
connected to, I think.
I am connected to the Internet via cablemodem. The cable co.
uses a dhcp server. From time to time the IP's change. Today I
was lucky as all my IP's were in the 24.64.136 range. With all 3
IP's from the cablemodem using those set of numbers, and using
Samba to say listen to MP3's (as a test) I noticed immediately that
the...

What's the trick. My server will hardly serve 4 people without
skipping and eventually dropping the connection. I am running from a
cable modem to a T1 network! Is there a trick.
I set the default_bitrate everywhere from 24k to 128k with varying
degree's of shittiness. I am using the latest sources from both the
project websites. I would really like to get it running. The

wondershaper
Hi,
I just installed wondershapper 1.1a on my ipcop firewall box. I have
roadrunner cable with a ftp server setup. My download speed is 2mbit (I get
225 KBytes) and my upload is 384kbit (I send at 43 KBytes).
What should the settings in wshaper?
I can ping yahoo.com at 90msec with little traffic.....and at around 220msec
with full upload traffic.

Custom CentOS5 DVD
.... So for starters,
I'd like to create a new DVD with all the current updates. (And I have other
custom scripts I need to install on top of that).
I've googled around and tried various suggestions on the net:
http://sipx-wiki.calivia.com/index.php/A_Kickstart_CD_for_sipX_on_CentOS
http://cablemodem.fibertel.com.ar/lateral/stories/38.html
However, I have not been able to find step by step instructions for CentOS5.
For example, genhdlist has been deprecated. Also, the centos-release-5.0.0 rpm
grabs a new GPG key from the net, even though an identical one is already on
the DVD. This creates p...

Load Balancing
Hi.
I´m making an script for load balancing of two
cablemodems internet connections toward my LAN.
The problem is that when I try to ''equalize'' the
the two internet connections with the weight=1 it
doesn´t work. On the other hand, if I put 5 and 5
it works, but not at 100%, it does intermittlently,
some times works and others don´t.

shorewall, as followed by the website. The firewall has been installed with no problems, runs ok,
but I have found a strange problem, maybe it me *shrug*

akamai problem behind linux router
Hello,
This is not really a shorewall problem. But just wanted to check if this
problem rang a bell with any of you.
I have a linux router with slackware 9.1, and kernel 2.4.27
Everyting works ok except for access to web sites that use akamai from
behind the router.
>From the router machine itself I can access those sites without problems.
But machines behind nat, take forever to access
