Hi All, I am trying to use the C50 package to build classification trees in R. Unfortunately there is not enought documentation around its use. Can anyone explain to me - how to prune the decision trees? Regards, Indrajit [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Nonlinear regression aborting due to error
Colleagues, I am fitting an Emax model using nls. The code is: START <- list(EMAX=INITEMAX, EFFECT=INITEFFECT, C50=INITC50) CONTROL <- list(maxiter=1000, warnOnly=T) #FORMULA <- as.formula(YVAR ~ EMAX - EFFECT * XVAR^GAMMA / (XVAR^GAMMA + C50^GAMMA)) ## alternate version of formula FORMULA <- as.formula(YVAR ~ EMAX - EFFECT / (1 + (C50/XVAR)^GAMMA)) FIT <- nls(FORMULA, start=START, control...

Extracting columns
...to extract. These 100 columns are distributed in 22 files. How to extract the 100 columns of the 22 files? I have done it "manually" with the following commands, for example: cromo1 = read.table ("~ / cromo1.raw ', head = T) c1 = subset (cromo1, select = c ('c1', 'c50', 'C750')) in this case, I know that the columns c1, c50 and C750 are on cromo1.raw. See who need to apply the commands above 22 times. Is there a way to schedule these operations? --------------------------------------------- Silvano Cesar da Costa Universidade Estadual de Londrin...

Bug or Feature? LogLik.nls and non-central F distribution.
I have a dataset that I am running non-linear regression on via the following code: Hill <- function(E0,Em,C50,g,C){ # # Hill is the hill interaction function. # # E0 Represents the minimum interaction Effect # # Em Represents the Maximum Interaction Effect # # C50 represents the concentration at which 50% of the effect occurs. # # gamma represents the cooperativity of the interaction cu...

How to read several text files at once!
...alues of V2 in each A-file with its relative value in B-file and save it as a new data frame named as C (e.g. C1 with V1 (row number) and V2 (A1$V2+B1$V2) ). Therefore, at the end I will have 253 C files (C1 to C253). I also would like to sum a number of the C files with each other (e.g. C1+ C2+ +C50) and save as a new file like C_sum. I already tried to write a short script to do all together but it did not work. I only was able to do for each C file separately. The main problem is that I do not know how to read several text files and how to use those files to make C files and afterwards C-su...

How to update an old unsupported package
Hi all, I have a package that is specific to a task I was repetitively using a few years ago. I now needed to run it again with new data. However I am told it was built with an older version or R and will not work. How can I tweak the package so it will run on 11.1? It was a one-off product and has not been maintained. Is there a way to "unpackage" it and repackage it to work? I

[LLVMdev] OT: intel darwin losing primary target status
I thought of another work around. The FSF gcc driver can implicitly add -no_compact_unwind to the link line. This tells the linker to not produce compact unwind information from the dwarf unwind info in .o files. Then at runtime the darwin unwinder will fallback and use the slow dwarf unwind info. -Nick On Sep 18, 2009, at 2:27 PM, Nick Kledzik wrote: > I dug into this. Based on

Inconsistent results between caret+kernlab versions
I'm using caret to assess classifier performance (and it's great!). However, I've found that my results differ between R2.* and R3.* - reported accuracies are reduced dramatically. I suspect that a code change to kernlab ksvm may be responsible (see version 5.16-24 here: http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/caret/news.html). I get very different results between caret_5.15-61 +

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list. I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without modifications. How did I try it? Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock ) Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee prep-out.log The build failed at the end: Processing files: kernel-xenU-devel-2.6.9-67.0.20.EL Checking
