A question about memory ballooning
Hi all, How can I manage automatically memory ballooning under a kvm host (C5.6 and future C6)?? For example if I define a kvm guest to boot up with 512MB of RAM and I have configured 1GB as a maximum memory for this guest, how can I allocate this memory when guest will need it?? And the opposite question, can memory balloon be deallocated?? And is it possible to do this automatically or

VMware Server 2 fails on 5.6
So others can avoid the lesson I learned this morning, VMware Server 2 stopped working after upgrading to 5.6 from a working 5.5 install (with the libc workaround for 5.4+ already in place). Some Google-Fu indicates the problem is linked to more supporting libraries being changed (zlib, libxml2, possibly others) in addition to the existing libc issue. I get a segmentation fault trying to

how is "binary compatibility" determined?
Hi all! We've seen quite a few references on the list to "100% binary compatibility with upstream". What I am curious about is, how precisely is this determined? All the ways I can think of for comparing how two systems might work seem flawed in some way (e.g., using some sort of checksum; unit testing; verifying build parameters). I did some searches both at centos.org and

flash and konqueror
I am stuck taking this stupid online training course from work. It just sits there doing nothing with firefox, so I pulled up konqueror, and tell it to lie and say it's IE. That works... until it gets to the content, which some HR moron is *positive* desperately needs to be in flash. I've gone into konqi's configuration, and told it to scan the correct directory for plugins, and yet

xferlog not rotating.
I am not sure how to correctly troubleshoot this. I just noticed that my /var/log/xferlog file is huge. There are no files in /etc/logrotate.d/ for xferlog. This is what leads me to believe that it isnot rotating. Or perhaps I do not have it set to rotate. I am not sure. I am running CentOS release 5 (Final). Can someone tell me what I, apparently, do not have configured correctly. Thank

compiling buoh comic reader for C-6
Hi all! I'm trying to build the buoh comic reader for centos 6 and my head is getting tired of repeated forceful contact with the wall. I built it on 5.6 without undue problems, but somehow 6.0 is beating me. (and no, the 5.6 binary doesn't work, at least not without a lot of futzing around, on 6.0. tried that first.) before I give gory details, has anyone already done this, from whom

EL 6 rollout strategies? (Scientific Linux)
I was wondering what feedback might be offered by the CentOS community on their experiences using Scientific Linux? I'm a long-time Centos user, and am basically happy with CentOS. I understand there are delays getting EL 6 out. We have been long anxious to roll out EL 6 as soon as it's ready, but our time window for rollout is looming and we will need to act. (for business reasons,
