As part of the migration process I need to upgrade an app and corresponding data files which requires php 5.6. I do have php 5.5 (and 5.4) installed since earlier but now tried to install php 5.6 from SCL which failed.
This is the package I tried:

Many thanks and a little hint concerning httpd on 5.6
Hello CentOS developer team,
thank you very much for the release of CentOS 5.6. I have upgraded my
server, notebook, netbook and workstation from 5.5 to 5.6 and
everything works really fine so far, CentOS 5.6 seems to be rock solid.
The only little problem happens on the upgrade of my server, since my
web server doesn't start after reboot. But this was easy to fix since
this error was known

I'm trying to update my CentOS 5.6 boxes to 5.7, and on every single one

No DVD Mirrors - Only Torrent
I love Centos. Have in on my data centre servers, my home servers, my
laptop and my netbook. Yes there are serious and continuing security
concerns relating to Gnome and KDE but they are not Centos.
Currently running 5.6 and would like a two set DVD of that version.
However none of the mirrors offer pure DVDs only Torrent versions which
involve the possibility of bits being tampered with and

cents 5.6 ..... futur
To pass from Centos 5.5 to 5.6 it was easy as an upgrade.
Will it be the same from 5.6 to 6.0 or a full install will be better.

hardware issues under 5.6
Folks,
This is, umm, odd. Two, at least, and possibly a third over the
weekend, of some older Dell 1950's, suddenly died shortly after being
upgraded to 5.6. They're all about the same age, and it's not happening
with other systems, but they claim a scsi abort, and the f/s goes
read-only. The little lcd screen goes orange, and shows a fatal error E

Safe to upgrade to Centos 5.6 now ???
Centos 5.6 came out. Any one tried to update to the 5.6 yet?
I am running Asterisk 1.8 and is there any risk to upgrade to Centos 5.6?
