MOre on buring ISOs
So right now I have installed k3b on this notebook. I am using my Storix DVD/CDRW usb drive. I can read cds with it. Cannot burn CDs. First k3b suggests slowing down (from 8x to 4x). Then use TAO. Then it gave up. So I try cdrecord directly. -checkdrive finds some interesting things. Got to close the drive manually; cdrecord says it can't. then try a cdrecord -v dev=dev/scd0 sample.iso

Cisco 7941 localized menus with SIP firmware
Hi, Has anyone met any success, installing localized (ie non-english) menus within SIP firmware enabled Cisco 7941 ? Those phones seem to be trying to download localized menus from Cisco Call Manager but as they are managed by an Asterisk server, I'm looking for a workaround. Any advice ? running speex on c5505 usb sticki
Hi, I am currently working on C5505 USB stick http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/tmdx5505ezdsp.html to sample input voice and encode it. For compiling and buring usual programs, I am using CCStudio 4.0. For encoding voice samples, I am using Speex codec binary http://downloads.xiph.org/releases/speex/speex-1.2beta3-win32.zip or http://downloads.us.xiph.org/releases/speex/speex_win32_1.0.4_setup.exe. I could include "speex/speex.h" without any com...

Centos 7: Notification of available updates in KDE?
Hi, I recently upgraded from CentOS 5 to 7. I have been running KDE. In version 5, if there was a pending update, an icon would appear in the panel, notifying about the update. There is no such icon in CentOS 7 - KDE 4. Is there a way to get this very convenient function? Thanks Frank -- <feeb at chem.toronto.edu>

CentOS Wiki How TOs
...of Roxio, I have version 5. As for the rest I can't account for. I am not on my Windows machine. Best idea I can come up with is to use the Trial Versions of them. I do have acces to a few older versions. Doing the MD5sum under Windows with a GUI and also the cd buring. ####Package Management#### 1 .Has nothing on Using and Installing Yumex. ####Network Section#### 1. Has nothing on Seting up a Diskless Client with CentOS. 1b. This would be a command line tutorial as the Fedora Core 6 GUI Tool is broken? Atleast it want work right for me yet. Haven'...

tftp file size limit: pxelinux.0 vs. syslinux.efi
...o boot EFI64). Thanks for the response. I've analyzed my network sniffer capture some more, and compared it with the working case for the BIOS. The relevant issue is that for BIOS boots, the tftp transfer is much faster than the same file during UEFI execution. The major discrepancy is that buring BIOS boot, the ACK packet for the tftp data packet is sent about 30 microseconds after the data packet arrives. Same file during the UEFI boot, the ACK-packet's trail the data packet by about 4 milliseconds! That's roughly a 100x slow-down. What happens on the BIOS side is that after the...

tftp file size limit: pxelinux.0 vs. syslinux.efi
Hello, I am pxebooting a large linux kernel (with embedded initramfs) that is around 250 MB in size. When booting a board in legacy BIOS mode, the pxelinux.0 executable is transferred to the board and takes over, from where loading and booting this large kernel works as expected. Actually, better than expected, as no tftp file size limit is incurred. If I change the BIOS settings to UEFI mode,

Hello, I have noted below problems that we can take care of, and those that aren't our problem, never were, never will be, impossible to be our problem, (you get the picture), because they are PEBKAC errors :) For all of those that don't know: PEBKAC = Problem Exists Between Keyboard and Chair. Any idea why this would happen? It's probably not the tape drive or the software for it, as I've tried buring the files to CD as well, and they lock at around the same point.
