Should I use gbde or geli?
...ives[1]. Is this also true for geli? 5. The ideal protection would be to keep the server running[2] and have it connected to the alarm system, so when the alarm is tripped, the server destroys its master-keys and renders the information useless. In case this happens by mistake (false alarm) or the burglar leaves the computer alone for some reason, restoring this information would be very useful. I know this can be done with geli. Does gbde support something like this? A further issue here is the destruction of the keys. AFAIK gbde wants the pass-phrase for this. This poses a problem since the alarm...

Connect intercom to Asterisk?
Hello I just read this article about a kid in England who built a box with a 3G SIM card: www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1394448/Doorbell-tricks-burglars-thinking-youre-home-invented-schoolboy-Laurence-Rook-13.html When someone rings your intercom, the box will call your cellphone so you can answer just like you were home. I don't know anything about electronics and would like to have something similar by connecting the intercom end in my app...

line battery check
...voltage on the line or not. Is this possible in the zap drivers using t1/e1 interfaces ? I believe the signalling bits are only ring and hook, not loop presence, so not sure if it is possible. I had a situation last night where a main cable was cut in the area and lines were down overnight. My burglar alarm knew right away there was no line battery and started beeping. Data T1 down was a no-brainer for the monitoring software to detect. Now I am looking for a way to detect loop loss on the voice lines - any ideas how to accomplish with asterisk ? I have a zhone bank - anyone know offhand if...

Alarmreceiver
Hi, I just want to ask if anyone has some experience with Alarmreceiver application in * 1.2? Is this application reliable (according to wiki it isn't)? I managed to communicate Asterisk (Alarmreceiver) with a burglar alarm, but it behaves very strange. Sometimes alarmreceiver is able to get some events but sometimes not. Maybe there are some other non commercial applications which work under linux? Andrutto Cheers ------------------------------------------------------------------- Fotoerotica! >>>...

Strange error in R CMD check --timings
...uot;, proc.time() - base::g + Error: unexpected end of input Execution halted The code without the offending comment is available here: https://github.com/rob-ward-psych/iac at revision c2f3529. To add the offending comment, change line 318 of R/iac_networks.R to #' # Ken is a burglar in the Sharks, what is retrieved from his name and run roxygen on the package, so the long comment ends up in the examples section of man/read_net.Rd instead of the empty comment that is there on Github. At first it appeared to require devtools::check(), but in fact the error comes from R CMD...

File server as host for a Windows Server VM?
...medalha <medalist at sapo.pt> wrote: > they need a Windows server for a couple of administrative applications Do they really need Server for that, or would a workstation do? I use a workstation as a license server for one app, and another workstation for the management console for the burglar alarm and antivirus. I've got my Unifi WAP "controller" on one workstation out of expedience, even though in principle I could run it as a Java-based service on Linux. Sadly, none of the others provide a Linux alternative, even though the upstream license software has Linux suppor...

Results of nls
This might be an easy question. I tried to catch the results of nls, but to no avail. For example, if I try to fit a modle y~A*x*x+B*x+C nls will print out what A, B, and C, but how can I store these numbers to a different variable so that I can make use of them? I tried to "unclass" the result of nls, but couldn't see any of the parameters. Y C Tao

OT - 'IP' Security and Capturing Software
Hi After returning from a trip to discover the delights on being burgled i wonder if anyone has any experience of IP security camera(s) and software that can constantly record the stream? I have infrastructure that could store a few TB's of video data which should be plenty for a few weeks worth of recording thats attached to a CentOS 6 box. This would be purely for after the event viewing

File server as host for a Windows Server VM?
I hope that someone here can give some advice on the following: I have a Samba based Active Directory. A CentOS 7.6 machine runs as a file server and hosts the Windows user profiles for all the Windows workstations. Now management has decided that they need a Windows server for a couple of administrative applications, which need MS SQL Server. That would be the only role of this Windows.

SOHO colour laser printer recommendations
Hi List, I'd really appreciate some recommendations for colour laser printers for use with CentOS. It's for light home use with CentOS 5 and CentOS 6 systems. Must have: 1. Colour. Quality not that important as mainly for kids school project type of stuff. 2. Ethernet connectivity - want something I can plug into the network 3. Cheap running costs - don't want to be spending a

Is there any Asterisk controllable thermostat?
I am wondering if there is any such thermostat available which can be controlled from Asterisk. Like you call your home pbx, dial some extension, e.g. 333 and it asks to set the temperature, you enter a temperature, and it sets the thermostat to that temperature. This thermostat will be very useful, e.g. when you're coming back home after a few days and now its snowing and you want home to be

Yager on ZFS
Not sure if it''s been posted yet, my email is currently down... http://weblog.infoworld.com/yager/archives/2007/10/suns_zfs_is_clo.html Interesting piece. This is the second post from Yager that shows solaris in a pretty good light. I particularly like his closing comment: "If you haven''t checked out ZFS yet, do, because it will eventually become ubiquitously implemented
