My last post buggered - FWD about patch version2
No idea why my last post buggered, so here's what I meant to send (attached is his actual patch): Hi! I made a little patch I'd like to see integrated (if appropriate) which makes Compiz usable in desktop+TV-out setups. It adds the --only-current-screen option to compiz which tell it to only manage t...

Regarding the De-bugger in R
Hi, I would like to know if there is some debugger in R where I can check that I am not using or not doing calculation on my previously stored objects. I can't use rm (list = ls()) to remove all the objects since I am using a for loop for reading 500 files and making making common calculation for each file, therefore I need to keep the track of...

Early warning wrt Win2K
It looks like Microsoft buggered up Win2000 so that explorer hangs while trying to view a directory on a Samba server. I can't experiment any more since I removed Win2K beta 3, but I thought I'd give the list a warning. -- Ben Kosse <bkosse@thecreek.com> PC Technician -- Coldwater Creek, Inc. (208) 265-7114

CentOS 7: software RAID 5 array with 4 disks and no spares?
On 20 February 2015 at 05:25, Chris Murphy <lists at colorremedies.com> wrote: >> I'd say your mom is an admin in the sense that chickens fly and horses swim. > > It's a confusing analogy. Chickens don't fly. Horses do swim. I have a couple of chickens, and yes, the buggers do fly if you don't clip their flight feathers. :-)

smbclient using SMB2+ against NetApp OnTap 8.2 anyone ?
...ting to a NetApp 8.2 box using SMB2 or SMB3 with NTLM auth. Short answer - it doesn't work :-(. Longer answer - the NetApp is choking on something inside the SPNEGO NTLMSSP packets we're sending it - giving the error that it couldn't parse the SPNEGO packet. Unfortunately (and knowing bugger-all about NetApps) it doesn't tell me *what part* of the packet it can't parse. Does anyone have access to a NetApp 8.2 box who knows how to get good debug info out of the thing ? I'll log a bug and upload successful connect from Win7 and a fail connection trace from 4.2.0 smbclient s...

member server resolv.conf question
...a: setproctitle not initialized, please either call setproctitle_init() or link against libbsd-ctor." I have never seen that before!!! The /var/log/syslog discusses updates for one of the W10 clients but doesn't look abnormal. Your thoughts? Exploding connections
..., but win2k reliably causes this problem. the problem is that connections.tdb is growing about 1MB/s - almost as if 2k were flooding the server. i can reproduce this with both SAMBA_2_2 and HEAD, from a cvs update no more than an hour old. what other information should i provide to help track this bugger down? This is frustrating! Need some Help
...wheel Looking at permissions on the share: $ ls -lad /backupstorage/admindirectory/ drwxrwxr-- 26 admin wheel 4096 Oct 9 11:00 /backupstorage/admindirectory/ I pushed the permissions down, recursively...but still, the user 'matt' cannot access the share. I'm having a bugger of a time trying to figure this out. Anyone have any ideas? Lastly, looking in /var/log/samba I see a bunch of logs in there for computers and such. What log file would i use to read to see if I can find the problem? All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Jason

SMB sharing under Mac OS X Server
...running on OS X, as our Mac clients have no problem connecting through Apple File Sharing via TCP/IP. The server is clearly visible on the Windows network, but the share cannot be accessed. I'm out of ideas! Can anyone provide any insight? If this isn't the forum to ask this, tell me to bugger off and I won't take offense :-) Many thanks in advance for any assistance, Jason Westlake

Strikethroughs and dashes
Who really uses strikethroughs?? This is one of the most common tripwires in RedCloth. You are the friend--the only friend--who has offered to help. Obviously em dashes. I died in -2006- wait, no, two-thousand-FIVE! Obviously strikethrough. I''m going on a trip - a long one - to the Virgin Islands. That''s got to be en dashes. Such a cheap, no-hassle, no-worry

Error: Client not receiving data fast enough
Hmmm, I am using Winamp for my client, will upgrade it, but it works for other shoutcast/icecast streams. There has to be something buggered up in my config somewhere. It sounds as if Ices is sending data too quickly to icecast(?), will blow it away and re-complie it and see what happens. Thanks for the help so far. yeah, essentialmix.ca is directly related to the Essential mix broadcasts off Radio1, I am running an FTP server with...

oplocks, kernel oplocks, kernel share modes, .. - how it all works?
...needs some more experiments on my side though, >I'm not sure if it actually works and the cache is being invalidated >properly. Also from my own description of whole thing, it looks >like there's no way to do anything when the file is actually locked. Locking and share modes have bugger-all to do with leases and oplocks. Please separate the two in your mind, things will make much more sense when you do :-). >Why inotify can't be used instead of F_SETLEASE here? Because the local unix process *must* be blocked from doing *anything* to the file until the SMB client has flu...

Has anyone complied Wine onto a Sparc (Suse 7.1.)?
...compile the source. I'd like to hear from anyone that's accomplished this feat, with, if possible some pointers on how to do it. I've never yet compiled any source code, (I find it difficult to grasp the ins-and-outs of it ("./configure" this, "make" that, and "bugger up" the other!)) so I'm a little apprehensive about diving in. I've searched for the HOW-TO's but have yet find one that I understand! (I'm new to Linux) Any help would be gratefully received. Thanks, Bob

Compile on RHAS/RHEL3?
