Windows XP Machines (well mostly the XP ones) hanging
Hello Folks,
I will personally send $50(AU) of Pizza to anyone that solves this one :)
We have a network comprising approx 30 Windows workstations all logging in
to a samba machine running as a PDC. The main exported file system is an NFS
mounted file system, but this was happening back when this was an xfs file
system as well. ACL's are enabled. We are running Samba Version 2.2.8a. The

Dear Samba folks,
I very recently replaced our SGI Challenge S file
server, which employed samba 2 to service Windows boxes,
with an Intel Linux box running Fedora core 2 Linux
with samba 3.0.3.
When I connect to the server, it takes a number
of *minutes* to get an authentication challenge
window. After entering name and password,
the connection proceeds, and shares are displayed
normally.

smbd processes 99% cpu and end-user locks up
Still having a situation, in particular with Microsoft Office products
(Excel, MS Word, etc), wherein a user locks up while saving a file.
The scenario goes as follows:
user opens up a file (excel document, word document, etc), user changes
file, user hits save, user hangs...
`top` reports an smbd belonging to user locked in some sort of loop
causing 99% cpu utilization.

Samba and Win2k: Printing from Outlook Express
Hi,
we are operating the IT of a small non-profit organization with a Samba
server (2.2.5) and roughly 15 Win2k workstations. Everything works
fine so far but one single issue: Printing messages from Outlook
Express: only the header of the mail is printed, no single line of the body.
All the domain users are standard-users (I'm not sure about the
correct English wording, may be someone

Domain Users Get Login Prompt with Guest grayed out
We are running Samba v1.2 with Unix v3.2 kernal 5.0.6
I am a complete newbie at Unix/Samba.
Samba is not a domain controller
PC users (Windows XP Pro SP2) logged into the domain are getting prompted
for a guest password. When the username prompt pops up, the username is
defaulted to guest and is grayed out.
If a person logs into the local machine on a pc instead of logging into

Bizarre problems with two Samba in the same workgroup
I had to setup a new Samba server as a PDC in my job (Samba 3.0) to replace
and existing Samba server PDC (Samba 2.2), the old server was running ldap
as backend, the new is running tdbsam. I have a lot of bizarre problems when
I put both in the same workgroup with other machines. I will give you a list
of them:
1) The new server is configured as local master browser and domain master

WINXP Profiles
I have a problem with samba 2.2.7a which is configured as a PDC for two
Windows XP Profesional workstations.
I'am working with roaming profiles for the winxp machines.
My problem is, when I reboot a winxp machine my roaming profile becomes
a local profile. When I don't reboot the winxp machine roaming stays
roaming.
This is my smb.conf configuration.
The linux machine is a ConnecTUX
