Updating the index.
...h the lucene, ferret, and aaf docs, but I''m
still a bit new at full text indexing.
When I create a new instance of an indexed model, and save it, it
doesn''t show up in searches. Should I have to update the index of the
entire model (which works) before it will return in queries?

[Bug 204] Authentication fails when username contains an at-sign
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=204
------- Additional Comments From britt at yenne.net 2002-04-04 18:49 -------
Okay, commenting out those lines definitely solved the problem. The pty issue
happened because I didn't configure with PAM, and evidently Ensim has done
something sneaky there.
So, definitely a problem.

How to import variable length lists of lists into R from text file?
...ith curly braces live in
a single cell of the data frame as a potentially empty list of
floating point numbers. Is this possible? I am creating the text file
so I can put in whatever characters would be useful to facilitate this
operation. The curly braces are just for example purposes.
Thank you,

Stopping example execution?
Hello, I''m wondering If I am missing something here when creating an example that sets an expecation at the top or beginning of an action but requires you to stub / mock everything that follows.
Example:
I want to test that a certain controller is running a before_filter...thats easy:
- controller.should_receive(:require_user)
- do_get
But now i''ve got to mock / stub

RDoc Dashboard Widget
Hi everyone - sorry if this is a bit OT, I''m not subscribed to the
''ruby-talk'' list, but if anyone wants to cross post this over there...
This is just a quick announcement to let people know that I''ve built a
basic RDoc Dashboard widget for Mac OS X Tiger. It''s still beta-ish,
but seems to work okay for me - and it''s a convenient reference

Package 'fCalendar'
...m afraid making a namespace myself is much too complicated, I read much about it,
but I really do'nt know how to do it exactly.
Is it possible to get a version of fCalendar' with namespace, so adjusted for R.2.14.1?
A tar.gz file would be fine.
I really hope you can help me,
kind regards,

highlighting with find_by_contents
I''m trying to highlight keyword snippets using the highlight method of
the results returned from find_by_contents (the actual models), but
always come up with an empty array. Any ideas what could be going wrong?

Serial port communication
...It is very important for me to receive single bytes, because my program communicates with a device, that sometimes sends confirmation consisting of a single byte.
May be anyone can give me some hint. I am new to Linux, so some advice where to start looking would be also very valuable to me.

Windrose Percent Interval Frequencies Are Non Linear! Help!
...est to the heart of the windrose is wider than the 5-10 chuck, which inturn is wider than the 10-15% chunk.
Does anyone with specific windrose experience know how to adjust the graphic such that the data and the percent intervals are evenly spaced?
Hopefully I am making sense here....
Thanks.

I have a Linux box running the Ensim web hosting software. Users on virtual

Dates in R
...tes are subscribed as for instance: 20101020.
This is 20th Octobre 2010.
My problem is that R won't except this as a date, since there is no sign to
seperate the Year, Month and Day
and that it will only see it as an origin, which it is not.
Does anyone know what to do about this.
Greetings,
Britt

Managing Database Alter Scripts
...nyone know known practices for managing these in the repository?
Rake migrate scripts? Etc? I''m trying to come up with a good schema to
keep track of which have been run on all live production servers, and
which still need to be run for a given revision in the repository.
Any thoughts?

Stopping WEBrick?
Is there any way to request WEBrick to shutdown besides hitting CTRL-C
at the console?
I''m looking for, perhaps, a script/shutdown command, or perhaps a
special URL that will request WEBrick to die.
It can be a command run in a different shell, or, as I said, a special
URL.
Anyone?

Rails in High School Curriculum?
Hi folks,
I''m working with a local high school in the Portland, OR area on the
subject of computer science curriculum. We are thinking of introducing
a class in web development and I think Rails would be a perfect vehicle.
I''ve done some searching on the web but haven''t found any suggestion of
HS curriculum for Rails. Any pointers or suggestions?
Thanks,

libguestfs on PPC64
[Note I'm not bothering with 32 bit ppc any more since it is
effectively obsolete.]
Libguestfs now works on ppc64 using the 'direct' backend. You will
need:
- libguestfs 1.23.21 + 7f90aa0998
- supermin 4.1.x (only tested with supermin-4.1.5-2.fc21.ppc64, but
earlier versions should work)
- qemu-system-ppc64 compiled from git (qemu 1.4 & 1.6 known to be broken)

Application Design
Hi Railsers,
How do you design your applications? Do you start coding HTML? Start
with the controllers/models? Start in a program like
photoshop/gimp/illustrator/inkscape?
I start in inkscape, it''s a SVG editor. I sketch all the views of my
application, and then I create the views that belong to one controller
in RHTML. After that, I do the models/controller, and move on to the

How not to use AJAX
Hi all,
Just ran across this article
http://blog.taragana.com/index.php/archive/how-not-to-use-ajax/
and was curious what the consensus is on the bookmarking and search
indexing problems. I remember seeing something about bookmarking on the
list. Thanks,
