Firewall rules that discriminate by connection duration
...Most such connections are P2P traffic, which should be given a lower priority than other connections and may constitute network abuse.) Alas, it doesn't appear that FreeBSD's IPFW can keep tabs on how long a connection has been established. Is there another firewall for FreeBSD that can? --Brett Glass _______________________________________________________ Please think twice when forwarding, cc:ing, or bcc:ing security-team messages. Windows XP and domain logon
Hello, I have installed samba 3.0.2a as PDC and BDC, I am able to add windows xp to domain and have added all the registry patches to windows xp, but when it comes to domain logon on windows xp client, the behaviour is very erratic, sometimes I am able to logon to domain and sometimes the domain logon fails, we need to restart the xp machine and keep trying to the domain logon. All suggestions as to the most efficient way to construct a solution will be most welcome. --Brett Glass

LUN Aggregation
Greetings. Is there an approved way to aggregate LUNs when using OCFS2? I have several 1TB LUNs I'd like to make into a single filesystem. Would I use something like Linux software raid? Brett

Anyone know of complete hardware solution based IDE Raid Controllers?
Years ago Accusys made an IDE raid controller that presented itself as one drive to the BIOS, making the unit completely OS agnostic. Anything like that out there, anymore? Cheers, Brett.

Asterisk 1.6 (realtime) - Overwritten CallerID(num) Problem
...kend, the caller ID number always displays on the destination phone as that phone's username. Meaning, if phone SIP/412 receives the call from the example above, the caller ID name displayed is "TEST" but the caller ID number is always "412". What could be causing this? FreeBSD 9.1 stability/robustness?
I need to build up a few servers and routers, and am wondering how FreeBSD 9.1 is shaping up. Will it be likely to be more stable and robust than 9.0-RELEASE? Are there issues that will have to wait until 9.2-RELEASE to be fixed? Opinions welcome. --Brett Glass

Is there a way to have Icecast2 send as some other type? My users are tech-illiterate so making changes on their end it not an option. Thanks, Brett

Official Documentation for Asterisk 1.6 Realtime ODBC Tables

I'm currently using the table listed here: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+RealTime+Sip Is there any official documentation on this? chroot-ing users coming in via SSH and/or SFTP?
...is the most effective and elegant way to do this? I've seen some crude patches that allow you to put a /. in the home directory specified in /etc/passwd, but these are specific to versions of the "portable" OpenSSH and none of the diffs seem to match FreeBSD's files exactly. --Brett

Heartbeat Timeout Threshold
...ng a heartbeat would be a symptom of a very busy filesystem but for a packet to take over a minute to get over the wire is odd. Or is it that the heartbeats are actually being lost for an extended period? Is this a network problem? All my nodes communicate heartbeat on a dedicated VLAN. Regards Brett PS: If anyone is planning to do Xen like this my main piece of advice is that you must put a ceiling on how much RAM the Dom0 domain can use. If you don't it will expand to use all non-vm memory for buffer cache so that when you try to do a migration to it there is no ram left.
