British or American spelling?
I was curious to read the following in the "Guidelines for Rd files" at http://developer.r-project.org/Rds.html: "For consistency, aim to use British (rather than American) spelling. (NB: British spelling often uses -ize as in `capitalize'. The view of spell -b of British spelling is a flawed American one. There are English/Scottish differences

Problems using ADS to validate Windows Network users on a Samba3 Member Server
Dear All: I made a change to my Samba configuration to enable Solaris ACLs in my Installation of Samba 3.0.11. After then, I lost the ability to permit domain users to browse the shares. The server is running Solaris 8 2/04, and Samba is bound against MIT Kerberos 1.4 and OpenLDAP 2.2.23. It authenticates to two Windows 2000 DCs. I had obtained a Kerberos ticket from the Domain Controllers,

British Pound character in error messages
some of my validation error messages contain a pound sign (the British currency, not #) however, this get''s shown as a question mark in the view. i can get round it by using the html reference (£) instead of the literal character, but it seems a little counter-intuitive to handle this in the model... isn''t it view related? any suggestions? British Voice talent records Asterisk prompts
Hi folks, I have British comedienne, Alison Keenan (another Alison!) coming in on Saturday afternoon to record the Asterisk prompts for me. Alison speaks with a "posh boarding school" accent. Finally we'll have a free British English female voice bank. As I have her in my studio (yeah right; it's a cupboard under the stairs) does anyone need anything doing? She's charging a

data.frame-question]
First a general comment on posting style, could you please be more specific about where the error occurs as without this it is very difficult to identify what the problem is. Now concerning your problem. When I tried the code I posted yesterday I thought it worked fine. I've tried it again now and found that the data.frame TAB3 actually only has one column and the names "A",

UK (British Telecom) Caller ID again
I've followed the recent thread on caller id with UK British Telecom networks (where the caller id data is delivered before the first ring). My understanding is that if I use a recent CVS head (e.g. CVS-HEAD-09/18/04-17:45:52) and a TDM400 with FXO modules, all I need to do is include the line: usecallerid=uk In my zapata.conf (in the [channels] section) I've done this, but I get: Sep

Map of British Colonial America 1775
Does anyone have suggestions about how to produce a map of British Colonial America 1775? At that time, Great Britain had 26 colonies in the Americas, including Bermuda, several Caribbean islands, "Quebec" (extending then almost to New Orleans), Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Belize, and the 13 that declared independence in 1776. I've reviewed the "map"

Re: [Astlinux-users] British English Female files ready for download
Mark, While these samples are pretty good they do not work "out of the box" - there are a couple of issues: 1. the samples are 44100 samples/second and Asterisk needs them to be at 8000 samples/second. This is what happens if you prune out all of the Amercian voicemail prompts and substitute yours: Asterisk 1.2.7, Copyright (C) 1999 - 2006 Digium, Inc. and others. Created by Mark

Alison Keenan (free British English voice)
Hi Folks, I have a few folks whom are interested in another recording session with Alison Keenan but don't have enough work to justify her visit to the studio. If there's anyone whom would like her to do some work but hasn't got around to it yet now might be the time. We need enough work to fill an hour of her time. So far we have about 25 minutes. Le me know off list. Thanks --

Using ifelse and grep
Good Morning, I am trying to create a new column of character strings based on the first two letters in a string in another column. I believe that I need to use some combination of ifelse and grep but I am not totally sure how to combine them. I am not totally sure why the command below isn't working. Obviously it isn't finding anything that matches my criteria but I am not sure why. Any

Vertical subtraction in dataframes
Hello all, I have not been able to find an answer to this problem. I feel like it might be so simple though that it might not get a response. Suppose I have a dataframe like the one I have copied below (minus the 'calib' column). I wish to create a column like calib where I am subtracting the 'Count' when 'stain' is 'none' from all other 'Count' data for
