winbind creating duplicate users
Hi everybody, I'm having a problem with winbind creating 2 entries for some of my users that really wrecking my head ;-/ . My situation is as follows : I have a typical Samba (3.0.14a)/LDAP setup. AW: Re: samba-3.0.10-1.4E (RHEL4); Invalid key XXX given to dptr_close
Fabian, Fast explains. On the NT server work BrightStore with version r9, more highly does not go because of NT. On the REHL4 side works (worked) BrightStore Linux Client r11.5. Smaller version does not work goes because of RHEL4. BrightStore servers r9 and Linux Client r11.5 are not compatible unfortunately. I must now decide everything with the versio...

2 httpd configs
I normally don't do this - haven't got any traction on taroon list and I want to get a backup going. I have an RHEL 3 server and it is serving some simple web stuff (horde/imp/etc.) I have installed BrightStor ArcServe and I need it to also serve some web pages. The ArcServe runs on a different port but has it's own httpd.conf with the distribution. The last time I did it, it was

Archive bit oddities
Hello everyone, I've been scouring the web, reading documentation and experimenting with settings and I am having no luck in getting the behavior of the archive bit to be anywhere near expected. I have the file foo.txt in the personal folder that has the ADS group DOMAIN USERS with read/write capability (660). When the user jsmith (domain user) modifies the file, the archive bit is not

Veritas Backup Exec 8.6 & Samba: Take Two!
Hi, gang, There have been numerous postings, scattered across various Internet forums (including this one), about problems encountered using Veritas Backup Exec 8.6 and higher with Samba-sourced shares from *nix servers. In my particular case, I have a Windows NT Server 4.0-based backup system, which is supposed to be able to back up the other Windows systems on the LAN, plus several SPARC boxes

Re: Intermittent "internal error: signal 11" with 3.0.24
...ctory path = /data01/Data read only = No inherit permissions = Yes directory mask = 0755 create mask = 0755 ------------------------ Apart from running as a Samba host the machines run default SLES9 'minimal' installs, including postfix, and are backup hosts for the environment using CA Brightstore. No NFS, no Apache, no ftp, etc, sorry, essentially their purpose is only file-sharing and backup hosts. Happy to post more info if needed. Tape drive recommendations
Hello all. I have 15 or so CentOS servers (now v4.4, I will upgrade them all to 5 when it comes out) and a few windows machines. I am looking to implement a network backup solution using Amanda. I will be backing up 200 gig or so to start, but that will grow. Does anyone have any recommendations on tape drives that will work "out of the box" with CentOS? Thanks, Joe
