Problem with Yum on CentOS 5.4
Hi, I recently downloaded and burned the 5.4 DVD ISO. All my machines are now running 5.4, but these are installs I performed with 5.0, 5.1, 5.2 etc. and then progressively upgraded. Now I had to use 5.4 because a friend's laptop, a brandnew Fujitsu Esprimo Mobile, refuses to boot anything under 5.4. After a fresh install of the base system, first thing I do is 'yum update' with the default setup... only this time, nothing happens. I stays about a minute or two on 'Determining fastest mirror'... and then tells me :...

pre-RC1 downloads
Hi! Propably a stupid question, but where can I get those brandnew encoders from? It'd be great if someone could post those URLs to the list for people like me who don't read any forums (no time, no fun :P). Thanks in advance! Obtw, CVS would be fine, too ... but as long as the new code isn't merged to the main branch I feel pretty lost searching for...

Commandline utility to edit ID3 tags?
Hi, I'm running a webradio on our brandnew CentOS 5.1 database server. (The main purpose of this radio is fun, sure, but it's also a bit like a canary in a coalmine...) It's based on Icecast, MPD and NCMPC and works great. I'm configuring the server remotely via SSH, no X. Is there any commandline utility to edit ID3 tags?...

ices 0.3 released
I've just released ices 0.3: http://icecast.org/files/ices/ices-0.3.tar.gz ices 0.3 is an encoder for icecast-compatible servers (including icecast 2, icecast 1 and shoutcast). It requires libshout 2.0. ices 0.3 outputs MP3, not Vorbis. For Vorbis you will need ices 2. We know this is confusing, so ices 0.x will probably have a new name for the next release. Ideas? Changes since ices

4.9.x -> 4.10.x : any major things to consider?
...oller says: "You must not reconnect a DC to the network, that was demoted remotely. Your AD can get inconsistent." which scares me a bit. What does that mean exactly? I have to reconnect with the same old hostname, but is it sufficient if I clear adc2:/var/lib/samba before to make it a brandnew machine? thanks all, good night and good backups

Dovecot 2.3.0 generates all index files at once
Merry Christmas! The brandnew Dovecot 2.3.0 seems to generate index (cache) files for all IMAP folders at once when a user logs in the first time. (Those "dovecot.index" files that live in ".imap" directories.) Previous versions generated these index files on demand when a folder was actually accessed (so i...

This is be...

...t; 2. We know this is confusing, so ices 0.x will probably have a new > name for the next release. Ideas? I'm glad to hear that 0.x is still maintained and, as it seems, still updates. Well, but why don't you just integrate 2.x and 0.x into each other, I mean, use 2.x as a "major brandnew rewrite" of 0.x and simply add MP3-support (just an option to link against lame) to 2.x? It would be up to every user if he / she wants to live with the legal "problems" connected with MP3 or not. But where's the problem? Does maintaining two separate tools doing almost the s...

Rift Flashing Screen. Need help with winetricks.
...When I launch the game it flashes purple and pink the whole time. I saw on the AppDB that someone else had the same problem and they said their winetricks was old so they just got a new one and reinstalled d3dx9 and it fixed it. I decided to do a zypper rm wine and then a zypper in wine to get a brandnew Wine. I also deleted the winetricks file in my home folder. I then wget the newest version of winetricks and did a sh winetricks vcrun2008 d3dx9. The problem is that it says it already has them and the screen still flashes pruple and pink when I launch the game. What did I do wrong and what do I...

Dovecot 1.1.2, SIGABRT on copy mail
Hi folks, with the brandnew release Dovecot 1.1.2, the daemon killed itself with signal 6 (SIGABRT) when trying to save a mail from the INBOX to another folder. The mail client is PINE 4.64. After reconnecting to the IMAP server, the mail was actually copied to the destination folder, but the original mail was still in the IN...
