Lies wide open ...!
Being as a Windows geek tho, I consider Linux as a more powerful server
operating system than Windows. When I saw OS comparison at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver/compare/linux/server-security.mspx I
was shocked! Showed it to a friend and he felt like being brainwashed :D
lol.
What do you fellows think about this?
Thanks.

Editors which have strong/solid support for SWeave?
Greetings!
I have a few colleagues who like the idea of Sweave, but have failed
to become enlightened monks of the One True Editor
(http://www.dina.dk/~abraham/religion/)
Are there any other Microsoft-centric editors or IDEs which have solid
support for writing SWeave documents (dual R / LaTeX enhancements
similar to ESS's support)? Has anyone tried the folding editors which
support Noweb?

DO NOT LISTEN TO STALLMAN! GPL SUCKS!
Why not LGPL

Win2k bringing down SMB
...r at the time. There is no
mention of the 2K machine (10.0.0.99). But this is what appears before the
SMB goes down for everything but the 2K machine.
The fix seems to be powering off the 2K machine, killing [sn]mbd, rebooting
all workstations, then starting [sn]mbd. It's like they've been brainwashed
and have to totally have their memory of the 2K machine wiped out. A few of
the NT workstaions *STILL* cant see anything but themselves in network
neighborhood, after many reboots/samba restarts. Even tryed adding them to a
differant workgroup, then moving back to AXISTANGENT. They ping fine, and

Allocate RID problem: algorithm vs NextRid
Hi,
after looking for some time on the web for a solution to my problem I
feel really brainwashed and I hope someone here can help me :)
I'm setting up a PDC based on this:
Ubuntu Linux 10.04 LTS
Samba 3.4.7
OpenLDAP backend
smbldap-tools
and I have a problem with RID allocation. Long time ago (before Samba
3.0.25?) RID was generated this way:
uid * 2 + 1000
gid * 2 + 1001
and it was nic...

XP Problem
Hi,
I have the following:
Win2k server with AD for domain login validation. There is a secondary
Win2k server as well.
RH5.2 with samba samba-2.0.4b-19990519
RH6.2 with samba samba-2.2.2-20011014
I wish to setup one or two very basic shares on each of the RH boxes.
share level security will be fine.
Win2k seems to work ok.
XP doesn't. It cannot find the servers with search.

Two R sessions?
Hi R users,
I am still a relatively new R user migrated from S+. I wonder in R
how do you handle one difference between R and S+. S+ saves objects
as different files in .Data directory while R saves all objects in
a big file .RData. In S+, I can start two S+ sessions from the same
directory and work simultaneously as long as new objects in the two
sessions are not in the same names. This is

AACplus
Sorry for the crosspost but it's relevant to Vorbis and Icecast I believe.
I'm seeing more and more streaming stations using AACplus, with many
listeners being amazed at the sound quality. Most say that a 48kb/s sounds
better than a 128kb/s MP3, which would put Ogg Vorbis at around 96kb/s IMO.
That means only half the bitrate is required in AACplus compared to Ogg
Vorbis for the same

Prices of g729 codec
Hi, does anyone know the prices for g729 codecs from Digium? I sent an
email a while ago to them but haven't got any response so far.
Prices are per unit or volume?
Thanks,
